    Default NewWorld Idea

    I noticed a lot of people feel that the Americas need to go. I feel that perhaps a compromise is necessary. Perhaps we can get rid of the Americas on the campaign map, but perhaps have special constructions on coastal territories that work like a connection to a distant colony. Perhaps an occasional battle?? In the vanilla RTW, there was the eastern trade route construction, same basic concept but going west. Just a thought to make TLR a slight bit better even though its already way better than the vanilla.

    If America goes, how about expanding the map westward to mongolia, so that the mongols have a home base to expand from?

    Hmm. Definately possible if we create a new building class.

    Thats sort of the idea. Not sure If I can get all the way to Mongolia. Also the mongols weren't really an active faction way back in 1080.

    Hmm but I could make them start out as a weak faction with limited units. Then some event could give them better units and the Khan's which would spur them to expand. Hmm. :hmmm:

    wouldn't they just get their arses kicked by the russians? they will probably arrive there before the mongols get a chance to become even reasonably strong.

    oh, and Lopus, who is that hot chica? lol

    Alternatively, make the mongols as independents, and later (probably using scripts) on 1204, you can still have the appearance of the Mongol hordes.

    Thank you, yes she is very nice isn't she? She's a "friend" of mine, one that I would rather not let the missus find out about.

    Would it be possible for the Mongols to start out as passive like the pope then switch to being aggressive? That way they could start out strong enough not to be overrun by the Russians and have a nice base of operations.

    Just had a thought about the New World. The player could get a mission from someone (the explorer's guild, the council, etc) about funding an expedition to sail eastward. If the player decides to pay there'd be a chance in a couple of moves of the New World would be discovered. Once that happens missions could pop up where if the player was willing to pay to outfit an invasion or to set up trading outposts then if their successful they'd grant the player a set amount of money per turn.

    A thought on the Mongols.

    Keep the Mongols isolated in the early era to ensure that they survive and build power. The Mongols home land is in a completely isolated and inaccessible area of 3 to 5 provinces of which only one primitive settlement belongs to the Mongols. The rest are rebel settlements. This area is full of rebel and brigand armies that simulate different tribes. The Mongols short-term goal is to unite this region and when the time comes for the Mongols to emerge to the rest of the world they will be strong enough. Maybe PAYED reinforcements of 6 experience point would emerge on the right-most side of the map.
    About the isolation part, This area of 3 to 5 settlements is enclosed with in a series of mountains and inaccessible steppe deserts.

    About the emergence of Mongols to the rest of the world (Some thing like the Aztec except that the Mongols are the Invading party):

    I don't know if the coming ideas are applicable or not but I'll mention them in no specific order. After "The Mongols Emerge" event one of the following will take place:
    1. A mountain is flattened allowing them to pass through it westwards. (I don't know if this is possible)
    2. A Land courier unit is available to the Mongols by which they can pass the inaccessible area of the steppe deserts (e.g. Caravans unit, each caravan is recruited using a special building. A caravan will act like a sea vessel that carries 18 units ... etc.)
    3. Keeping an accessible passage that stretches for some length. The passage is full of very strong rebel armies.

    If reinforcement is to appear upon the announcement of THE event, measures should be taken to suppress population growth to the limit of, for instance, only the second level of the settlement in any of the homeland settlements.

    This will compel the Player to rely heavily on the reinforcement to break through the isolation. This also means that recruiting higher level units is only possible outside there home land.

    I don't think I'll be able to do this. I simply can't resize the map far enough to get to mongolia so it won't make sense.
