    Default Shouldnt mods have...

Shouldnt mods have install progs that do all the work themselves?

For example: the Extended Greek Mod. You download the file and run an install prog that downloads and does everything for you, plus it has a mod switch which makes you able to play vannilla and the mod...and it downloads a seperate shortcut to your desktop.

Is it just me or should more mod teams and such be highly considering this? It's so much easier then having the people out there like myself (the ones who love the game but dont know everything there is to know about .tgas, .cas, and descr_battle files) screw around with critical game files and end up causing the game to CTD.

Why dont more mods have this? There's only one I know of and that's XGM...are there any others out there that are amazing mods and dont require you to even touch your RTW/Data folder? If so let me know, plus give you input on the subject.

The ability to create a modfolder did not exist or was not known about in the early days of RTW modding, and conversion over can be a bit if a problem especially for larger mods. There are also some rare elements that cannot be contained within a modfolder, and then there is a big difference in RTW and BI modfolders.

However, you are quite right that mods should realize players 1. want to play more than one mod (and not have to make many copies of their RTW) and 2. do not want to mess with files or have their vanilla files messed with.

I think mods are coming over to this way - and quite a few are in this category. Installers are not the easiest things in the world so many mods still get you to do things manually.

BTW, Forth Eorlingas is *entirely* within its own modfolder *and* is totally automated in its install - even down to placing the correctly-pathed shortcut on your desktop. So there's another to add to your list

yeah , ive been playing rtw for years and back in the day there you always had to copy the data folder. some of these new mods ,particularly MTW2, make mod switchable and user friendly.
