Vermeer
Johannes Vermeer (or Jan Vermeer) is one my favourite painters and what I consider one of the greatest painters in human history. I've had the privilege of attending a exhibition with two of his paintings and, for me, his paintings are more that paint put into a canvas, they are a truly remarkable experience and ever enduring legacy of the craftsmanship and genius not only of the Dutch culture but of the European culture and of the Human spirit.
A must see.
Vermeer Catalogue (all works)
Note: I'll be releasing soon a creation of my own, a full catalogue of all of Vermeer's, with annotated entries for each painting and high quality images, in .pdf (Adobe) format and free to download.

Re: Vermeer
Hey Gil (tambem és tuga certo?). I've seen a film (it came with the newspaper Expresso) about how Vermeer painted his famous portrait of that lady, can't remember the name of the paint... but it's really well known though... I think that the image you've put there is like when he was doing that paint that I'm speakin about!
I can tell that of what I've seen of Vermeer he's a marvelous painter and a very intelligent person also (I think both the things are the same in one: intelligence and skills).
By the way, do you know what's street art? Most of it is rubbish in some way, but I love the most famous artist of it: Banksy! He has out now a book that I can't remember the name (again)
. Another good artist and one the oldest ones is Blek le Rat, from France. Banksy is from Bristol in the UK.

Re: Vermeer
Yes, I've known Banksy for some time now, I even put some stickers of him in school, which ended up with me in the Director's office....
(sacana do continuo tinha que se ir chibar...)
But yes, Vermeer's technique was (and still is) one of his triumphs and what justifies that while not having many paintings he is still appreciated today.
