Are the Effects for ancillaries fixed ? ie is it possible to create new effects eg Ostrogoth Turcoat gives effect of +1 vs Ostrogoths ?

or are these set in stone....?

You can make new ancillaries and also adjust the effects of existing ancillaries, please note though that the text displayed for the ancillary doesn't change automatically when you change the effect. You have to edit the description of the effect yourself in
    data/text/export_ancillaries.txt

that's the good news, the bad news is I don't think your example will work, see here:http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=70140
I tested giving faction specific combat bonus in traits file and it didn't seem to work!

Thanks. Looked at the other thread you mentioned and I would guess that the effects are set. So although BI has a faction combat effect [ vs Hun +1 ]. that's because CA added it in a s a hard-coded effect just lik ethe vs Easterner, vs east_empire etc effects.

So in terms of combat modifiers, we are stuck with the culture/factions already given.

Yes, I thought this was so when I saw carthaginian spelt incorrectly back in the days when I did the extra culture setup - ah, well, a loophole in that system if you have more than one faction assigned to it.

my personal take on this is that combat modifier by culture (inc. hun) should work, culture v. faction is main issue not hardcode) but attempting combat modifier by faction (huns) probably won't work based on results of my testing - could anyone else please report?
