Rise Against is very good (RPM, Siren Song).

    However, there are two problems:
    1) This sort of thread belongs in The Arts.
    2) There are similar threads already in the aforementioned forum, so this is probably somewhat redundant.

Musical discussion is always good though. Just check what's here already before making a thread.

Rise Against springboarded me into the heavier stuff a.k.a. Metal.

Bad Religion, Rise Against, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Metallica, Offspring, Van Halen, etc...

Mainly Classic Rock specifically Psychedelic, Progressive, and Southern.

I'm also rather fond of Bob Marley and some other reggae bands.

I like the occasional rap but almost entirely Detroit rap.

What good songs have Rise Against made? On YouTube there is an Urban Ninja video, this one:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpnCQCdLTt4

That has "Give it all" by Rise Against in it. I really like this song, which others are good?

The best one is probably "Rumors of My Demise Have Been Greatly Exaggerated."

    Other good ones:

    Black Masks & Gasoline
    Heaven Knows
    Halfway There
    Like The Angel
    Voices Off Camera
    Blood-Red, White & Blue
    Torches

    State Of The Union
    Life Less Frightening
    Paper Wings
    Blood To Bleed
    To Them These Streets Belong
    Tip the Scales
    Anywhere But Here
    Give It All
    Dancing For Rain

Yeah, basically the whole of the albums Revolutions Per Minute and Siren Song of the Counter Culture. The newest album sucks.

That's a very welcome coinsidence... I happen to be listening to Breaking Benjamin at this very moment. I like a couple of their songs... So Cold, anyone.

Going back to the point of the thread: This is a very widely posted thread in the Arts section of the Thema Devia, so don't expect to much response. And many have agreed that it is almost impossible to name one specific band to which you hold all favor... for the most part.

I don't have a favorite band or a favorite type of music, because there are way too many to choose from. Way too many good songs from way too many good artists. I could list my favorites, but that would also be a huge list. Just thought I'd say something about how hard it is to answer your question, considering it asks for only one.

It's not bad... I guess it's good. Only, it irritates me that myriad preppy girls in my school like that one song and use that to claim they like Rise Against, while the song is completely unrepresentative of the rest of the band's music.

Tool is quite simply one of the best bands out there right now. They take time to release a solid and unique album each time. They also put on the best live show I've ever seen.

    I also enjoy:
A Perfect Circle, a Maynard James Keenan (from Tool) side project that is now dead.

    The Mars Volta

    ISIS

These are all good bands with unique music. More importantly, they actually write and perform their own music rather than slapping together preset sounds on a computer and singing over them which most artists do today.

I hear that. That's similar to the situation at my school. A girl I know decided she liked Rise Against too because of that song, so she bought the CD, and she wasn't pleased.

But you shouldn't be so irritated by things like that, I'd bet that most high school students(especially girls) only actually pretend to like the music they listen to anyways. Or if they do actually like it, it's for completely air-headed reasons. I have yet to meet a person who likes Rise Against(or any other remotely Punkish music) who actually understands the meaning behind the music.
