    Default New, some questions

well first off, this game is absolutely awesome got it 2 days ago off steam and i havnt stopped playing

im playing the roman empire on m/m, but i have a few questions and things i could use help with..

merchants- well how exactly do i use these guys? im allways running out of money, right now im -20000 somewhat

the only way i can seen to make money is by controlling and sacking regions, which costs money and manpower

diplomts- is there an effective way i can use these dudes? diplomacy for me now, has alwasy failed until i force a nation into ceasefire - the pope wants me to ceasefire with nations, but they dont listen to my diplomats

spy/assassin- again, i dont use these guys at all..

so my problem is atm, diplomats, merchants, spies and assassins are useless to me, an id like to put them to work

after formal alliances between the french, polish and milan exhausted, i fnd myself in a tight spot..

my outposts are mediocre, and slowly twindling in power every turn, milan agreed to ceasefire after i took over their mainland cities, sicily also is now neutral after i ravaged them

i had 2 main armies wandering the lands, one of them is station in milan capitol now with a weak forces after conquering the area, my other army lead by leopold the scarred is stuck with twindling forces fighting the french armies just above dijion, venice and prague are now constatly being attacked by hungary, the poles pulled back after leopold defeated a massive army in a 1080vs1090 man battle, but they have surrounded my NE flank

my fleet of ships is next to nothing, theres a massive rebal army somewhere in the middle of my land.. so here i am fighting off these attacking forces on all sides, i have no funds to rejuvinate my armies, and i fear its only a matter of time before the walls come crashin in

i dont wnt to cheat, but, say if i were to start a new campaign, what are some things i could do that would make me succesfully complete mission, and maintain decent income:hmmm:

thanks in advance, and i plan to post here more because well this game is awesome and theres alot to talk about!

I'm sure if you just look around, you'll see many posts that would answer your questions in detail.

Merchants, select, move your cursor around the map until you find resources (there should also be a income remark), among the resources you see, find which makes the most money for you and send your merchants there to earn you money.

It depends on your diplomat. I've got 2 silver-tongued diplomats that are pretty much maxed out (traits and ancillaries), but most can barely get the other side to agree to a trade agreement.

    Spies useful for 2 purposes.
Imprimus: Keep enemy spies out of your settlements.
Secundus: Scout out enemy settlements (and hopefully open gates).
Assassins are a delight (when they get trained up, otherwise, they suck) specially when a particularly annoying Pope gets on your nerves.

By all means, put them to work.

    Just keep on trying.

BTW, the AI of the game is pretty buggy. You might want to consider trying out some mods. Personally, I love The Long Road mod.
