    Default Newbie/Rebels

    Dear Gang:

Good morning from Canada!! I hope this finds you and yours well. As for me, I could complain...yadda, yadda, yadda.

After an initial problem, I got the game this week. I was thinking of buying it 'way earlier than this but only one thing stopped me from doing it--the words "TOTAL WAR." I honestly thought it was only a battle game, which I didn't want.

I, Indy, turned out to be dead wrong when I gave it a closer look and found it to be a strategy game. There's a lot to get used to, but I'm going to like it.

I'm playing as England, and I find that I have a lot of trouble with rebels, especially at sea. My land battles are fine, but I keep losing at sea. Last night, I was almost with in spitting distance of Jerusalem on a Crusade when I was sunk by a bunch of EGYPTIAN rebels.

Nationality notwithstanding, how do I beat these guys? I lost a WHOLE ARMY last night due to said Egyptian rebels, and the Pope's complaining that not enough Catholic countries came to support the Crusade. Would the dear Holy Father like to trade places with us for once and see how tough it is getting past these guys?

I will now get off my soapbox.

Live long and prosper, take care and thank you kindly!!!

    Sincerely yours always,

    Indy.

welcome tot he forums, you might want to change your font as it hurts a bit on the eyes,

You can mod a certain text file, (I don't know wich) to reduce the amount of rebels/pirates.

Other then that, I guess your only option at sea is to have bigger fleets I usually don't leave any port with a fleet with less then 6 fleets in it,

and regarding crusader armies, I like to sail close to coastlines and drop the army on shore right before I'm out of moves, this way If the fleet is attacked and sinks, the Army is still alive and I can recruit some merc ships the next turn to take me further, or I can march across land.

I hope this is helpfull to you

You units go ashore instantly if they have any movement points left, which should be 100% of the time since they are on boats and they arent actually moving on them. This method is technically faster since the navy carrying your army wont retreat, and theres no chance of losing your army if the fleet is destroyed.
