Default Obama and Hillary..this will be entertaining

Well, according to the press, they started their clawing and scratching yesterday, as an Obama supporter and wannabe celebrity (who was a fund raiser back in the day for the Clinton's) had the audacity to critisize Ms. Hillary. And of course, she responded with fangs bared.

This is 18 months before the next election. And the smooth talking trial lawyer (Edwards) hasn't even entered the intra-Democratic mud-slinging yet.

This will be fun to watch. What are your thoughts about the Dems tearing each other down, vs focusing on issues or at least attacking their political foes rather than each other?

Could a mod please combine this one with the other thread of exactly the same name. It was a double post mistake.

    Thanks.

Its to be expected...hell Ive said in a number of posts with people saying Republicans will hit on Obama yeah they will provided he survive the Clinton hit team first. The Democratic primary is going to be very vicious because you have two big named people competing for it, Obama should be wary he doesnt make newbie mistakes because Clinton will eat him alive.

My prediction is they will knock each other out and it will be Edwards.

I am hoping that Obama would be able to come on top. The problem I think that America has is that it is not exactly going to vote in a person of color into presidency. So even if Obama comes out on top of the democratic elections, I think that he will most likely lose to the Republicans.

Please not this again, Americans will vote for whoever they think will serve their interest best...regardless of color or sex. Americans are no different then any other western nation in alot of ways better in this regard. He has to appeal to everyone, that was the flaw of Jackson in the past (that and his tract record). Obama so far has a good shot of doing that because he isnt allowing himself to be boxed into the 'colored' running for president but an american running for president that is the KEY.

No way, Edwards is a light weight.

hardly the most urgent issue now though, eh?

I'd be perfectly satisfied with hillary/obama on the same ticket... a man can dream, cant he? But it certainly does seem like the clintons are in war mode, they are not accepting any competition whatsoever this time around. Hell, John Edwards a guy who bill clinton was very buddy buddy with going so far as to giving him tips in the 2004 elections...has now cut off all ties with edwards. Yikes, no room for friendship in politics huh?

Well Bill Maher was talking about this very same issue in his last episode of Real Time. He mentioned that the key issue is Hillary and her experience and Obama and his lack of experience (which he makes up for with charisma and speeches, something Hillary cant match)

This is an interesting question, will americans percieve experience as a good thing or a bad thing this time around? Last time as we all know, an unexperienced man got to be president and look where america is now. Then again obama and Dubya are vastly different characters and personalities....

The "obama supporter" was David Geffen, and all he said was that he thought less of Hillary because she didnt admit her vote in the senate authorizing the president to use the military was wrong. David Geffen is an american, expressing a political opinion. Thats all. And hillary overreacted of course, demanding that David take back what he said and blah blah blah....

"Geffen described Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton in unflattering terms: '"Everybody in politics lies, but they do it with such ease, it's troubling." He also described Bill Clinton as "reckless" and cast doubt on those who say he has become a different person since leaving office"

Actually anything thats violating our Constitution is always an urgent issue. A helluva lot more important than gay marriage.

Sorry no, the issue is Iraq and Iran and what the hell we're going to do now. Not gay marriage, not gun control, not friggin abortion or flag burning.

P.S. I have to believe the democrats have learned by now to stay away from issues they ALWAYS lose on, such as gun control or gay marriage.

Well, the Democrats have proven to be pretty damn stupid as of late, so I wouldn't be surprised if Obama and Hillary ran together (no way in hell they'd get elected together) and ran on a "Ban marriage entirely, and let gays sodomize your children" campaign.....honestly I woulnd't be surprised....I'm actualy counting on it.

You can't blame them for fighting so hard since whoever wins the Democratic nomination will automatically win the Presidency with half the effort.

Yeah but youre an insane conservative so your opinion doesnt matter. HAH

Your time has come and gone, just admit it. Its the liberals turn. (or rather I should say, the MODERATES turn as thats what they both are)

Edit: Remember when the campaign slogan for the GOP in the 2000 election was "Restoring dignity to the white house?"

I wonder if thats the same slogan everyone will use this time around as well

RZZZA is completely correct, people are bored of lies, criminals and idiots, they will now choose competence and God willing maybe perhaps probably not accountability.

Obama "looks" like a president, despite the fact that no president has ever looked like Obama, I think he's a fine speech writer and public speaker with an air of thoughtfulness that could go a long way in reversing the image of Americans the rest of the world has gotten. but his lack of experience is disappointing. Hilary seems utterly Stoic, but without the feeling of a sheer towering intellect usually evident in people of that nature. I'd prefer Obama, but Clinton could do.

I would love if Gore got back into the game, people are now generally concerned about the problems he wants to address and could finally cause the U.S. to make a true benevolent step in the global community.

This is key, especially in the aftermath of the Bush ordeal...

Bush demonstrated that the seat of the Presidency is, ostensibly, a superficial one. At the end of the day, after the wishes of the President's political party and cabinet have been considered, he has no real power (other than the ability to veto). The President is a glorified representative of the United States, the guy who reads the State of the Union addresses, etc.

If a democrat is to be chosen as the next president, make sure the guy/gal can at least speak English (OED English, not Americanese and its variants). It wouldn't hurt if he/she sided with the left, either. Liberal Europe would like that
