Music Culture Classification
I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this....
I want to customize the music more than I am allowed to. I am limited to 3 culture sets to customize as follows:
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; ROMAN MUSIC ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
;;; FRONTEND
culture roman
state MUSIC_FRONTEND
event
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; BARBARIAN MUSIC ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
culture barbarian
;;; BAttlE MAP
state MUSIC_BATTLE_TENSION
event
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; ARABIC MUSIC ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
culture carthaginian, greek, egyptian, eastern
;;; BATTLE MAP
state MUSIC_BATTLE_TENSION
event
______________________________________________________
Where are the classifications for the factions stored? I want a few more classifications so I can edit further. Is this possible or am I limited to this?

Re: Music Culture Classification
I don't think you can change music per faction but you can split up the Arabic section into individual cultures eg. take eastern out of that section and make a new section with same info but referencing different tracks:
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; ARABIC MUSIC ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
culture carthaginian, greek, egyptian
;;; BATTLE MAP
state MUSIC_BATTLE_TENSION
event
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; NEW MUSIC ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
culture eastern
;;; BATTLE MAP
state MUSIC_BATTLE_TENSION
event

Re: Music Culture Classification
What if I add onto descr_cultures.txt?
The lines are as follows:
symbol data/models_strat/residences/symbol.CAS
siege data/models_strat/residences/siege_icon.CAS
blockade data/models_strat/residences/blockade_icon.CAS
culture roman
portrait_mapping roman
rebel_standard_index 0
culture barbarian
portrait_mapping barbarian
rebel_standard_index 1
{
village
culture carthaginian
portrait_mapping eastern
rebel_standard_index 2
{
village
{
culture greek
portrait_mapping greek
rebel_standard_index 3
{
village
{
culture egyptian
portrait_mapping egyptian
rebel_standard_index 4
{
village
{
culture eastern
portrait_mapping eastern
rebel_standard_index 5
{
village
{
Of course I left most of the file out due to size.. but it seems to me if I add onto this file I create new culture classes? I would then have to find out where exactly they are assigned.
Of course I know I would have to alter other files as well, as this is not the only file talking about cultures. But does anyone see why this wouldn't work? Or have already tried it?

Re: Music Culture Classification
Yes, factions can be assigned different cultures but that does not give you more classes - and of course assigning a new culture to a faction has many ramifications for other elements of the game...
You can set up one extra culture which you could base entirely on a pre-existing culture except the music/audio if you wished. I cannot remember if I tested the music for a new culture but I cannot see why it would not work.
My tutorial for setting up a new culture is here:
