Hello all. I have finally bought "RTW: Gold" and boy ... what an experience so far! Except for the graphic, I put it higher than M2:TW.
Anyway, here's my problem. Hopefully this isn't redundant. I'm playing full campaign as Sciprii and I'm the second most powerful fraction, second to Pontus. It is currently 210BC.
My faction heir general has just captured a settlement near Egypt/Alexandria (forgot the name), which is controlled by Pontus (originally controlled by Numaria). There are only wooden walls here, so after capturing it, I parked my general in the city to retrain some lost units. On the very next turn, a full stack Pontus army with mostly silver chevron warriors/chariots and whatnot seige my newly captured settlement!
I know that I cannot survive since I'm vastly outnumbered and I have overestimated Pontus (bad on my part). I wanted to at least sneak my favored General out and have him fight another day, but I can't. Here's the question.
1) Is there any way to rescue my general?! As you know, the area of Northern Africa is very sparse, so it will take turns for another army to come.
2) I took the chance and sally forth to take on the sieging army before they can make the seige equipments. The problem is the that I have wooden walls with some arrow towers around the wall, but nothing came out when the enemy comes near!!! I took some light calvary to lure the infantry and chariots near my wall, hoping that the arrow towers will bring them down, but nothing got shot? Why? Is this a bug? The tower says "0% damage" when I put my cursor over it, so it's not damaged.
3) In the end my general die during the seige, and I lost the city. I should have paid more attention to the other powerful factions. Question is: there are currently three powerful faction now - me, Pontus, and the Brutii (sp) -- I am not at the Civil War yet, so should I focus on all-out war with Pontus, or should I mop up the rest of the weaker factions, or should I do something else? Thanks.
