Oh no, I meant that it'd be nice if TWC could provide more higher bandwidth and large file uploads and such. Paying was referring to modders having to to go outside twc to pay for upload/sites or rely on rather shaky free-upload sites.

But then again, who would pay for it? Bandwidth and space cost you know... (I'm sure that TWC has quite alot of space though, the problem here is the bandwidth)

Good point, I guess I shouldn't complain. Bandwidth is a major issue indeed. We're quite happy to be able to host our mod on such a great and active site.

But no doubt, TWC being able to host large and heavily downloaded mods would be on my wish-list for sure.

Thanks mate, but this site you need to create a page etc...its not worth using moddb just to upload some 300MB files of mods, I do however use moddb for larger mods.

Have just found filehosting.org: http://www.filehosting.org/ is working today! this site has no file limit size!!

Don't they have a horrible waiting period or something? I'm almost sure I read something about that.

So what are the current best sites?

We will be releasing RS 2.5 soon as an open Beta and I know that there have been complaints about 1.6 and 2.1 downloads too. We had Megaupload so that's gone. What would the consensus be for the best "few" sites currently for large downloads?

    There's some discussion of Megaupload alternatives here;
    http://www.pcworld.com/article/24866..._business.html
    and
    http://www.digitaltrends.com/computi...-alternatives/
though some of those only work via email

Rapidshare is looking quite good as it's now unlimited...

If other people can post feedback I'll try and get to grips with updating the OP.

Well it's interesting that since 2012 no posts here, and no one even mentioned the Mediafire (I guess)
Thou most of the modders already using it

I don't even think most of the members even know about this part of the forum anyway..
Only the very oldest members, and some exceptions like me of course.

Anyway, it's capacity is 12 gb for free version..

Also I made a guide for it's some cool features.

Why the thread didn't have much activity since 2012 is simple, I forgot that I've had posted in this thread.

I just wanted to mention another non TW-community site and that's The Assimiliation Lab (TAL).

    Main Page: http://www.theassimilationlab.com/
Registration: Required for uploading, not required to download
    File Size Limit: 6 GB
    Download Counter: No
    File Retention Time: ?
    URL Upload: ?
Other Comments: No ads before downloading and no pending process similar to what ModDB has

However, since I play Total War games and TES games the founder on TAL agreed to allow uploading and re-uploading TW mods, in fact TAL also offer mirroring of other game mods and TW mods.

If it's just for images, http://imgur.com/ is great. Fast, very easy to use (you can drag and drop from almost everyhwere) and so far nothing I've ever uploaded there has been taken offline (even when I upload almost everything as a guest, without login in).

With the added plus of their hilarious frontpage (and the added inconvenience of the risk of losing hour after hour watching it).
