    Default CD2 and a 8800?

Well right now I have a system panned out with the following components:

Sunbeam Transformer IC-TR-BA Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case - $79.99

    ASUS P5B-E LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard - $299.99

    XCLIO STABLEPOWER 500W ATX 500W Power Supply 100 - $69.99

    Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Conroe 1.86GHz - $185.00

    OCZ Platinum Revision 2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 - $185.99

    Seagate Barracuda ES ST3320620NS 320GB - $99.99

    LG L1752TX Black 17" 8ms DVI LCD Monitor - $179.99

SAMSUNG Black DVD Burner - $30.99

    Thermaltake CL-P0372 92mm Enter CPU Cooler - $33.99

I know there is bound to be a bottleneck but I want DX10 damn it. I came here hoping you could streamline my budget a bit and tell me if the bottle neck isn't too sever. Keep in mind, since I'm putting that aftermarket heatsink on, I'm OCing the Conroe to at least 3.2.

    + 1

With only a 17' monitor, an 8800GTS 320 mb is all you will need. Maybe a 640 MB if your budget allows.

By saving money on the GPU, you can get a better CPU which will give you more performance

I was basically gonna say the same. I know someone who got basically the same Gfx card like you (but it was the gtx). He got a Conroe E6400 and OC'd it to 3.2GHz w/ a Zalman 9500CNPS Heatsink/Fan I think he's actually pushed it further now, but not sure what to.

These days, I wouldn't bother with anything lower than E6400.

Also, nice HDD! That's a good find at a nice price too!

Well the E6400 will give him better speed, but not necessarily better performance. The E6600 on the other hand will give him both because it has a significantly higher clock speed AND it has that whooping 4MB L2 Cache for blinding performance! Remember that with the Intel CPU's the Level 2 cache is shared between the two cores, unlike the AMD dual cores where each core has a dedicated cache. So obviously the larger the cache, the better. The E6400 should be more than enough though… especially if he's going to be OC’ing it.

iwas going to recommend getting an arctic freezer 7 pro instead but the price is unbelievably high on newegg. First time ive ever seen newegg with higher prices than british shops. I can get an arctic freezer pro for £12, on newegg it's $70 wtf?

Mehhh, the Zalman will work so much better + it's cheaper for him. But I guess I'm biased since I got the Zalman too.

Oh, I'm a retard, I forgot to put the 8800 up there. I was thinking of getting the EVGA 320-P2-N815-AR GeForce 8800GTS 320MB. It's the same price as the regular but it's factory OCd and comes with Dark Messiah.

Good card and a good choice of brand, since your monitor is fairly small and won't be chucking out high resolutions I don't think you would need anything more powerfull than that.
