Well he is considered as a prophet by Jews so i dont see the problem with Jews who like Christians.
Plus the evangelicals are in a love affair with Israel, this might be just returning the favor.
As far as I've gathered, they are Jews who've converted to Christianity and take on this title to try to evangelize to their families and other Jews without alienating them. Basically, Christians hiding under another name.

theyre not really jews though are they? They just use the name "jews for jesus", but theyre really christians for jesus.
As far as I know Jews for Jesus are Jews who believe that Jesus was indeed the Messiah they had been waiting for. However, it does not neccessarily mean that they all accept the New Testament.

They certainly do sound like a joke, dont put it past americans to legitimize and even elevate cooky groups like this to positions of power and respect. That doesnt mean its not a joke however.
So theyre not really jews, theyre evangelical christians.
"Jewish groups[4][5][6][7] the State of Israel [8] and others[9][10][11][12] reject any identification of the group as religiously Jewish, due to the Christian beliefs of its members and its evangelical activities. [13] [14] [15]"
edit: forget jews for jesus, the real deal is JUMP for jesus. Thats where thousands of christians all hold hands and jump into the grand canyon together.

they aren't Jews. What separates Jews from Christians is that they don't believe Christ is the messiah, hence the new testament. It is because the Jews reject that Jesus is the Messiah is the very reason they reject the New Testament.

At least some of them are Jewish in that they were raised within Judaism and have now accepted that Jesus is the Messiah (and the rest of Christianity - you could accept that he was the Messiah and not believe he was the "Son of God"/God the Son, since they are not the same thing).
No, they do accept the New Testament and all the essential premises of Christianity, including the Trinity and everything that goes with it. As I said, it would be possible for a group of Jews to believe that Jesus was the Messiah and not accept that he was the Messiah in the Christian sense (ie that he was God Incarnate, which is not part of the original Jewish conception of the Messiah), but Jews for Jesus do accept all the major premises of Christianity.Originally Posted by jankren
"Jews who have become Christians" would be a more accurate name, though it seems many of them aren't originally Jewish anyway. "Let's Get Jews to Become Christians" would be more accurate still.
They are in Australia as well. I've seen them handing out leaflets in malls in Sydney and Melbourne - both cities with very large Jewish populations.Originally Posted by arfrisco

thats what they do in america. i was in washington dc and they were handing out pamphlets. i do have a jews for jesus "synagogue" nearby where i live. but ive never seen anyone go into it.They are in Australia as well. I've seen them handing out leaflets in malls in Sydney and Melbourne - both cities with very large Jewish populations.
they call themselves jews but no one else does. their customs dont resemble judaism or christianity. they blow the shofar every friday night(in judaism its done on two holidays), they try and convert people(not allowed in judiasm), and no real jew believes in jesus. they try to be jewish but no rabbi ever converted to their religion. most of the "rabbis" are evengelical christians who create a story about growing up jewish but then finding jesus.theyre not really jews though are they? They just use the name "jews for jesus", but theyre really christians for jesus.
