Default My dissapointment on this mod

Well, I expected a lot from this mod but instead I found out that most factions have not more than 10 different units, the defence points of all units are WAY too high and most factions lack the depth that RTW vanilla offered. Sigh...

It is true that there are things to improve, but I can't agree with you that the "units lack the depth that RTW offered". That makes no sense to me! In RTR there is a variety of units outnumbering RTW in each faction. Nevertheless just look the skins. The respond to realism much more.

Depends on what historical period you want to play. There were no auxiliary spearmen in The Republic

No, I use the XGM which enlengthens the battles and I certainly do not like 5 hour battles when the Spartan royal guard is fighting the Carthagian Sacred Band!

    HI,
More units for the greeks and a lot of other factions are in my opinion better(look at parthia!!)
i think that all tribes(barbarian) and cities(greek) has their own special units
and that all greek cities can recruits elite hoplites is a little bit strange for me
i have seem nearly all mini mmods but i cant find a mod where the cities has their own units is there any minimod????

I don't think there is a RTR minimod with such detailed hoplite variety. I would advice you to see what will be the mod Hegemonia : City states look like. They announced that each greek city has its own specific hoplites. Check their section in this forum for more info

Adding new units is very easy....read a few tutorials and make a mod. I've added
lots to my RTR: Plat (met/nav).
I came, I saw, I went away again.

Offtopic//I suppose you are right, but shaping and drawing a totally different from the default RTW units must be a hard work, that requires artistic skills

yes you are right to add units isnt a prob
i added itw greeks to rtrpe
my problem is where to become new skins
because i cant make skins with gimp only
i am looking for someone who makes really historical accurate hoplite skins

    The Hoplite
images you've linked me to are of classical Greek Hoplites not Hellenistic. Thus they are not historical accurate.Hoplite warfare had undergone many changes since the days of these guys. By the time frame of RTR the Corinthian helmet was not widely used due its restrictions on vision. The attic helmet was probably the most common. But if you want to add a few anachronisms to your game there are lots of new Hoplite models and skins to download from the TWC download section.

Adding units is maybe not so hard, but removing others to make space for the new ones, atleast for me. If you're removing a model that is being used by more then you thought, like rebels, you got some **** on your head.

The llong battles, I think, is a major problem, concerning not only this mod. It is quite unreal, that 10 hoplites, who survived from a whole unit are surronded by my principes and keep up fighting for more than 30 seconds. It is more realsitic the battles to be shorter, not longer

Just reduce the moral level in the export_descr_units.txt overall. RTR's level is set quite higher than vanilla RTW.

10x, M8! I will lower the values, as long as I found the mentioned file, because in my data-directory I have similarly named files : export_descr_unit and export_descr_unit_enums, but not the file you mentioned. Any idea, how might it be named in my case?

I've highlighted the appropriate file for you. The .txt doesn't appear physically but all text files that use this format are .txt files.

Look in the TWC download section for RTW unit editor (I think it's still there.) Very easy to use for mass conversion. Look for RTW/BI version. I use that for mass edit my unit stats.

I will try the Caligula unit editor, but it seems it is made to edit each one unit's stats separately for every single unit. How I am supposed to set the morale-level, which you said is the reason for the units big endurance and for long and boring battles?
