I have noticed in the game and unit file that there are no onagers or roman archers....?????........or should I just do some tweaking and add the vanilla ones in?..

They are not supposed to appear at all. Here`s the FAQ. It covers your question:

I have 1.6 Platinum as well. But REALLY what I would love is the use of heavy Siege Equipment in my campaign. I would love to throw in a Heavy Onagor at my Roman advesaries. Real German firepower you know? I know it's not historical, but it would REALLY be fun!How do I add this unit to my troops??

hm... who said that onagers were unhistorical? sure, the spoon-onager in vanilla rtw are, but to create new model (with the same animation) will be better.
greek artillery was under development in that time, and Archimedes' tools are just the craziest we can mention. There were plenty of torsion artillery.

Hi Mylae,
your answer is......... nobody.ImKyleJames' question specifically refers to Heavy onagers used in Vanilla and the Germans using them against the Romans. This to me sounds like fantasy..Find me a source from the BC's that supports this and I'll gladly concede..
p.s yes a new model with animation would be cool but I don't think the Platinum team have any plans to do this.
Well that's all fine and dandy, and yes I've looked at those mod tutorials. But honestly, XXX_OOO_NNN.tga gloss? I just want a frickin catapult. Heh, I figure they were in the vanilla, so if I get those graphics, and add something to those descr. files and such somewhere I can add the onager to the German artillary. I just need a starting point, and a little help. Oh, by the way, in the General community forum, in the Coliseum section.. heh, nice pics there. "You have been raided!!" LOL, I died. It might be gone soon so hurry and find it, you'll enjoy it, or not.
You just have to copy the appropriate text entries from the vanilla files into the RTR files.
Btw its not a good idea to advertise sexually explicit images..that kind of makes you complicit which is a ban-able offence. And no.. I got no enjoyment from the images they're boring, ugly and annoying.
Sorry, I understand about that raided stuff. Last night I just found it totally funny and unexpected, I didn't know yet it was everywhere.
Anywho, those appropriate text entries, that sounds easy enough. I will look through them to find out what you are talking about. I suppose I will have to add buildings too for the construction of said units? What should I be looking for?
No you don't have to add buildings,
you need to edit these files- export_descr_unit.txt, export_descr_bulding.txt and descr_model_battle.txt in the data folder. Also export_units.txt in the data/text folder. You can copy the appropriate entries directly from the Vanilla rtr text files for most of the entries. For the export_descr_bulding.txt you just need to add the lines to existing misslie recruitment buildings.
hm...I understand fine why there are no onagers..I can find time to add them in if I really want to...but what of the archers? I don't see why they are not in there...or is there something I'm not getting...?

I see now. Thank you for your help. If I'm lucky, I can finally get some time this spring break to read on some more Roman History. The military in particular.
