Default Realistic recruitment in greek cities

    Hi,
Sry that i have so much questions,
i want to make the recruitment in the greek cities more realistic.
i want to add for each city their own special hoplites
i know how to do that (i believe that but i am not sure)and i have enough hoplites
So i will make these hoplites of each city and i will make them available for the factions which conquers the city
so it would possible to see corinthian hoplites in a roman army
but i am not sure shall this is historical or not
    my questions:
1.are the special hoplites historical accurate?
2.is it historical that the other factions can recruit them?

1.are the special hoplites historical accurate?
Well, I guess it depends on how you view history in the first place. Greece was NEVER a unified nation during the times before or after Phillip II of Macedonia and Alexander the Great.

The best way to explain it is by saying you have to imagine every major Greek city (Athens, Sparta, Larissa, Thebes, etc) is it's own faction...Greece was made up of city states that either fought with each other or against each other...there was never a unified nation of "Greece" in ancient times.

So, to answer your question...yes, it would be historically accurate to have different Greek cities have their own special hoplites and other units.

2.is it historical that the other factions can recruit them?
While as far as my knowlage goes when the Romans took over Greece they didnt have exclusive Greek armies fighting for them. They very well could've used Greek solider mercenaries as auxilery troops. In fact when the Romans took Sparta the Spartan warriors actually agreed to fight for the Roman army...yet I dont think they ever saw any major action besides protecting their land.

When I was thinking up ideas for mods the other day I was thinking of what could and could not be done with such a game like RTW without being too historically inaccurate...it's a challenge...it's one thing to make maps and units look as they did but it's another to consider certain factors like the ones you're asking that could've happened but didnt or didnt happen at all but could've...and that's what RTW and modding for it is all about...you need to consider all the factors and as long as you present something that has enough freedom for a TW game but is historical enough to keep the hitory nerds quiet then you have something special.

So, after going off on a tangent I'll summerize for you: 1) Yes, deffinately 2) Sure, I dont see why not it's not like when the Roman conquered Sparta everyone turned into a Roman right?

I like where you're thinking, I too wanted a minor mod that adds different units and uniqueness to each of the Greek city states. Best of luck and if you need any history help I'd be glad to assist you
