    Default Baktria on VH/VH

    I'm trying to do Baktria on the long campaign in VH/VH with TE 5.1 and CE 2.0. And, I must say, I bet no one's ever done it. You're starting 4000 gp are gone before you can say the name of this mod, and then you're staring at hundreds of miles of rough terrain between you and piddly Rebel settlements.

    But, just on the off chance someone has done it, any advice?

    Hi, yeh I have been playing a Bactriam campaign on VH/VH. There really isn't much you can do about the economy situation at the beginning. I just kind of pushed past it - took the two northern settlements using most of the army, and just kind of ran my army into the ground fighting. Gives you a few more cities, and once you lose your starting elite troops - elephants and cataphracts - that combined with the new cities pushes you back towards the black pretty swift. Then it's just a matter of slowly growing your army and expanding your borders. I have found it quite a slow game compared to Rome or something, but I have really enjoyed the challenges.

    I did some beta testing of the Bactrian faction. It is very challenging.

    I suggest the following;

    1. Get alliances and trade rights with everyone as soon as possible. Especially Seulicia, Egypt, Armenia and Pontus, Scythia. This will give you an extra dozen years or so before Selucia starts testing your cities.

    2. Hit the rebels cities nearby (NE?) as fast as your men will march. Of course, capturing them is imperative.

    3. After capturing at leasst 2 of the rebel cities, head east and start sieging the large Selucian cities, sacking one will add a nice lump to your treasury, which you will need.

    3. At no point can you become defensive, you will slip into the red and grind to a halt. Its GO GO GO from day 1.

    Even then you really cant lose a battle for the first 100 years or so, its devestating.

    I'm trying this faction now. I love the inital army, and I made alliances with everyone but the Seleucids. Then I proceeded to conquer India. Several big battles (thankfully not sieges), and it takes alot of time for you to pacify the population, but in the endI got em all and my income turned positive.

    But now as I'm about to really increase the income and build myself a nice army, the Seleucids come with a monster stack and attacks my capitol (moved to center)! I'll try to defend but 4 levies and 1 general can't stand up to them even when they rush me with milita hoplites, levies and a few phalanx.

    I still have my cavalry, but taking the city back will require infantry as well and my economy pretty much still sucks.. finally a challenging RTW game =

    The hard part about Bactria is not only their low income compared to their inital army, the problem is also the huge areas around the towns, making travel lenghty, rebel pop up all the time, and I don't really have the army to fight them meaning I mostly use family members... in india even a rebel stack with archers and elephants showed up!

    The Seleucids on the other hand has the ecconomy to fight several foes at once, and they can afford to lose a major battle, I can't.
