- Fixes the problem that some people have experienced concerning Caesar not moving to Gaul in 58 BC.
- Now the Caesariani and the SPQR should remain allied until the end of De Bello Gallico and the beginning of the Civil War.
- It also fixes (I hope) Caesar's faction treasury starting negative. If it is so when Caesar emerges, it will be automatically fixed in the next turn.
the first hotfix, hopefully save-game compatible, has been released. Here is the link to the download thread:

RELEASED
Greetings to all, the day has come.
I have created an installer. I have not been able to test it as I am at work, but it appears to put every file in their place. Download it here:
http://files.filefront.com/77_BC_Mod.../fileinfo.html
http://rapidshare.com/files/16884136/77_BC_Mod.exe.html
Install instructions:
Requirements:
- Rome Total War and Barbarian Invasion patched to 1.5./1.6.
- RTR Platinum Edition 1.8.
Instructions
1.- Make a new install of RTW/BI patched to 1.5./1.6. respectively (in case you already have one, just copy the whole folder.
2.- Install RTR Platinum Edition 1.8. in it. To install RTR PE just download the programs and follow the instructions provided in this link:
http://forums.totalrealism.net/showthread.php?t=4118
3.- Run the 77 BC installer.
4.- Once you have finished, open the folder where you have placed 77 BC.
5.- Now create a shortcut of the Barbarian Invasion icon. Right click on the shortcut. Select "Properties". Edit the "Target" of this shortcut to look like this:
"C:\Program Files\Activision\77 BC Mod\RomeTW-BI.exe" -show_err -mod:
Alternatively, follow these instructions:
http://forums.totalrealism.net/showthread.php?t=1565
6.- When starting the game, the advisor will pop up. It is necessary to click on the "show_me_how" button in order to activate the script that will run through all the campaign, providing the special features of this modification for RTW. NOTE: it has been observed that, for a proper performance of the script, if you leave the campaign it is necessary to completely leave the game and restart it again.
=============alternative install procedure==============================
If you are a true Roman you will not need an installer. Here is the download link of a compressed .rar folder that contains the mod for you to install manually:
http://files.filefront.com/77_BC_V_1.../fileinfo.html
This will allow you to download the full mod BUT with no installer.
Install instructions:
Requirements:
- Rome Total War and Barbarian Invasion patched to 1.5./1.6.
- RTR Platinum Edition 1.8.
Instructions
Ok, now you have a data folder, three text files (including this one that you are reading) and the "campaign_map_reset" program created by Marcus Camillus. What should you do with them?
1.- Make a new install of RTW/BI patched to 1.5./1.6. respectively (in case you already have one, just copy the whole folder.
2.- Install RTR Platinum Edition 1.8. in it. To install RTR PE just download the programs and follow the instructions provided in this link:
http://forums.totalrealism.net/showthread.php?t=4118
3.- Open the RTW folder.
4.- Drop the data folder with 77 BC that you have just downloaded inside the RTW folder. It will tell you that the folder already exists. Answer 'yes' to the question concerning replacing existing files.
5.- Drop the "campaign_map_reset" program inside the RTW folder too. Run it in order to make sure that all map.rwm files are removed from the install.
6.- Now create a shortcut of the Barbarian Invasion icon. Right click on the shortcut. Select "Properties". Edit the "Target" of this shortcut to look like this:
"C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe" -show_err -mod:
Alternatively, follow these instructions:
http://forums.totalrealism.net/showthread.php?t=1565
7.- When starting the game, the advisor will pop up. It is necessary to click on the "show_me_how" button in order to activate the script that will run through all the campaign, providing the special features of this modification for RTW. NOTE: it has been observed that, for a proper performance of the script, if you leave the campaign it is necessary to completely leave the game and restart it again.
INTRO
Welcome to the world of 77BC: Twilight of the Republic, a new mod designed to be installed over a clean copy of BI 1.6 and RTPE 1.8
As you may guess the mod starts in 77BC. Why 77BC? Well the Roman Republic is entering the critical final phase in its long history. An incredible array of characters bestrides the stage as the fate of both Rome and the known world rests in the balance. This is the age of Cicero, Cato, Pompeius Magnus, Mithradates VI Eupator Dionysos, Tigranes the Great and the Marian rebel Quintus Sertorius.
The Polybian Legions are gone forever and the res publica resorts to recruiting large numbers of proletarii in order to face its many foreign enemies. In the east Mithradates of Pontos is gathering a new army drawn from the peoples of both Europe and Asia, preparing once again to challenge Roman hegemony.
In the meantime his son-in-law Tigranes the Great of Armenia is forging a huge empire and his armies campaign as far south as the border of the Hasmonaioi. If Tigranes’ power goes unchecked then the balance of power in the region might well tilt decisively against the res publica.
A resurgent Parthia, fresh from successful campaigns against the Saka, is also a potential danger. Heavily armoured Cataphracts and swift horse archers represent a fearsome if ill-understood threat.
In the west the migration of the Cimbri and Teutoni remains a terrifying collective memory. Rome warily eyes the peoples of Gallia Comata and the forests of Germania, alert to fresh dangers posed by a new generation of warriors.
More pressingly internal discord weakens the very fabric of the res publica. Populares and optimates struggle to preserve their own narrow self-interests whilst in Hispania Marian exiles rally around Quintus Sertorius and large tracts of territory are now under their sway.
What side will you take? Do you prefer to form a new empire and defend your homeland from Rome as the leader of the Arverni? Will you control the destiny of the last members of the Marian cause in Hispania? Do you want to throw the dice one last time for Pontos or will you endeavour to save the res publica with the Legions. So many choices to take, but only ONE faction will control the Mediterranean at the conclusion of 77BC: Twilight of the Republic.
This mod features:
*Scripted missions within the game which will challenge you to successfully control the fate of the Roman Republic. Will you manage to eliminate the pirate menace as efficiently as Pompeius Magnus? Can you decisively eradicate the threat of Mithradates VI Eupator Dionysos? Or will you emerge triumphant from De Bello Gallico and defeat all comers in any Civil War?
*5 new factions. The Breuci, the fiercest of the Pannonian tribes; the Nabataeans with their great capital at Petra who are locked in dispute with the Hasmonaioi dynasty of Judea; the Yuezhi who have swooped into Baktria and threaten to expand still further as well as the North African kingdom of Mauretania.
* Scores of new historically accurate skins and unit descriptions
*Marcus Camillus trait system
* A lot of scripts to balance AI expansion and produce more varied armies.
Hope you enjoy it.
