    Default Game crashing

    I've seen other people that have had this problem but nobody has replied with a fix...

    I would be playing a campaign battle and get to a battle, start loading into the battlemap and then my pc would just shut down. Like someone had pulled the plug on it.

    I'm unsure what could be causing this, I havn't unpacked the game files, my drivers and hardware are all up to date and capable at running the game. The thing is that I have no idea when it can happen. There is no knowing when it can happen sometimes i've played for hours with many battles and other times my pc would crash on the first battle.

    From my personal experience this had to do with a faulty power supply (it was dying).

    It could be something overheating like the CPU or Video card.

    I'm pretty sure with the CPU if it sees that its getting to hot it will shut down the computer to protect it.

    Your PC is shutting down? It isn't a CTD?

    Yeah that sounds like a hardware-related issue to me. The crashes that most people seem to be experiencing are at least "caught" and reported by Windows, which ulitimately never loses control of the system.

    As mentioned "power supply" is a possible - perhaps you should see what its rating is and try and determine if your system could pull more wattage than it can supply? Not easy I know....:hmmm:

    Loads of people are having this trouble, I got so sick of it ive removed the game and binned it. It's unbelievable that they can release a game with such a bad bug in it.

    The folks above have nailed it. If you computer dies during scenarios like yours, it's a power supply problem. It either cannot power your hardware during peak moments (such as loading a 3d battle), or the power supply is just faulty. I'd recommend getting a new power supply that can handle larger loads. You can get PS's for fairly cheap.

    @muse

    Never heard of this one. Check for new drivers from your video card's website. If that doesn't work, make sure you don't have your PC or game monitor settings set higher than the monitor it is capable of.

    okay, mines still not working right.

    I've checked the settings, the power supply, and every time I load a battle, the computer either shuts down or the display screen will go to

    No Display

    and shut off unable to turn back on. I can however continue to hear game sounds. 99% of the time the screen shuts down instead of my whole computer restarting. Since I've bought the game I've been unable to play a single battle.

    Sounds like your video card is shutting down when you go to the battle map.

    Is your video card overheating? Find the cause and fix it.

    Video card fan stopped working or too slow
    Most cards require Auxillary power connector. Check that its connected
    Major dust build up around fans and northbridge heatsinks.
    Power supply up to scratch?

    Edit
    Also check your settings are OK (windows video options & game video options)

    @Knightkiller

    I concur with everything Neb says ^^^.

    @muse1989

    You should also try Neb's advice, sounds like the same problem and checking these sort of things is always a good policy anyway.

    and pay particular attention to this.

    - NOTE: Due to a timestamp check, the following unpacked files will
    cause the game to crash and must be deleted before the game is
    launched:

    No that's not it. It shut down on me before I unpacked. I have also deleted both those files in my current config. The only reason I unpacked is that it was shutting down in various ways, a couple being in this thread, and figured that I would see if I could fix it that way.

    This isn't the first time I have unpacked then deleted 2 files specified. I even created a batch file last time like the readme mentions. However, I did not completely understand what I was doing. Now I can't remember what I did.

    I am now on a reinstall. It is about 6th or 7th reinstall. I would like to complete the batch file with the MII.exe file mentioned in read me but can't remember how to do it and the read me isn't very enlightening on that aspect of the instructions.

    I have done all this just to stop the crashes. Could be something with my computer, but everything else seems to work fine. I even bought and installed a new power supply just in case.

    Have you tried playing the game without any mods/unpacking or changes?

    If not then may as well install one more time and try playing a campaign without altering any files whatsoever. If it plays OK then its your comp. If not then you did something wrong with installing the mods.

    Do you have the latest sound/mouse/video drivers and DirectX9c including Directx9c security updates.

    Are you running a cracked XP?

    Yea, I tried all that. Later tonight after work I will try vanilla one more time. I can't remember what it did under vanilla but that sounds like a good diagnostic tool. I am pretty sure it locked up though. I have even down graded some things and upgraded them again. I have uninstalled most drivers and reinstalled them. I will have to go through again and try the newer upgrades I have done so much stuff to this comp trying to get it to work that I don't even know where I at anymore.

    Just try with vanilla but remember don't touch any of the game files whatsoever just yet. After uninstalling the game delete the SEGA folder if its still there.

    Keep your latest drivers and check that you don't have any yellow question marks showing on the Device Manager

    The latest one that exactly matches the make and model of your hardware. Check your manual or get someone to help you identify your hardware accurately because a wrong driver could be bad news.
