    Default some advice

ive not played RTW in a while but the last time i played i used RTR platinum along with a mini mod which added RPG elements to it for example generals had to be in the field to get promoted. there was also a manual that came with it that had house rules. does anyone know how this mod developed?

im currently downloadin RTR platinum 1.8 (new one just out). im also lookin at that imperetor mod, is that designed to install over the top of RTR or is it a seperate mod? so many mods its very confusing.

    thanx in advance

From what you say I suppose you are talking about Candelarius`s mod. Candelarius has retired from modding RTW, but as you can see form this thread:

some have chose to carry on the work and port it to the new version of RTRPE.

If you're planning to use Imperator II v1.8 and v1.9 you do not need to have RTRPE v1.8 installed first as the mod combines both in the same installer. It uses the -mod switch version so it will not altered any of RTW/BI original files.

RTRPE v1.8 are also being build using the -mod switch version and if all goes well it will be out in a day or two.

would i be right in saying that imperator uses the BI.exe or must it be manually amended? and the same question goes for RTRPE 1.8?

I'm not quite sure what you mean about the manually added part. Imperator II needs RTW-BI installed and patch to v1.6 first. For RTRPE v1.8 you only need RTW v1.5 but it's much better if you have BI v1.6 as the AI is slightly better.

i remember with RTR platinum 1.7 u had to modify the BI shortcut by adding something on the end so the mod would use the BI.exe. is this no longer necesary now?

ive just started the marius campaign with imperator and im a bit overwhelmed by it all. dont get me wrong it looks great but startin with 59 cities is a bit much. even the island of sicily has 5 towns. maybe a bit much micomanagement for me.

what other mods are there that have the same depth (zone of recruitment etc) but maybe less towns on the map?

Most mods that I know have this view that the more cities on the map more better approach.. At least those that I knew of.

You're right that RTRPE v1.7 do need to modify the shortcut but I try to make my mod much easier by including the .exe together as it involves some swap files between the 2 campaigns.

Marian campaign starts with 59 regions as that's basically what Roman Empire was at around 100 BC. I might have it wrong on few details but that was what basically it.
