    Default LTC, DLV or Darth's?

What are the main differences between and why people would recommend one or the other?

    Lands to Conquer 2.1
    Deus Lo Vult 1.9
Full Darth's Mod 1.3c (I know the other mods use parts of it)

So far I have used just Darth's, but since I just finished my campaign I am wondering which one is the best out there and why.

    Thanks

LTC :is what the Vanilla should have bean
DLV: Has some goos features, like the big map more regions
Darth I don`t know it much but I know that it`s incorporated in LTC

Look at each mod and what that it changes and then look at your priorities then choose.

Personnelly I like LTC better. DLV is a bit unbalance IMO the big map and more regions doesn`t have a good feel still that`s my IMO

Altho I can't answer your request directly, since I only last week loaded up my first mod, which is LTC. I started up a HRE campaign on H/VH, and I have been having a blast. Only 12 turns into it, but I have been on an expansion rampage, and have added Florence, Hamburg, Stettin, Breslau, Magdeberg, Prague, and Bern to my kingdom, and am making 16k florin a turn.

I enjoy that you have to build up to get certain key early units (eg, mailed knights), and don't get those from just upgrading walls anymore. The building upgrades themselves take much longer to construct. Both those factors make it extrememly important that you plan out which region will be city/castle, and then which particular region will be your source of infantry/cavalry/ranged.

I will update as I get further into the campaign and see more of the diplomacy and AI with this mod, but so far it is what I had hoped for when I bought MTW2. A great mod!

    I prefer the long road...

@Mikelus: It sounds like it is too easy to make money quite early in the game, isnīt it? Not a good thing

@Sir_ROb: I think the problem with the Long road adn the reason I did not put it on the list is, well, looks like too long. I do not want to wait 500 turns to discover America or gunpowder.

The large money I am earning is a function of the faction I chose (HRE), and the many rebel provinces I took over. The cost of the buildings is much more with this mod, so it is offsetting.

Wait until you get into a war in my mod, then you will be glad of the early easy cash income.

LTC seems to be the most popular by the number of posts, etc. in the different fourms. Just one question. Can I simply copy the newest versions of Ultimate AI and Darth formations on v2.1? Or should I copy just some files and leave others from those two mods?

    Thanks, Lusted

As you might expect, this kind of question is really subjective. I love LtC for the time it gives you to build up, the mostly reliable alliances and the fact that when war breaks out, it's vicious, money is harder to come by and the enemy's armies are plentiful and full of decent troops. Deus lo Vult sounds like a pain, because of the army upkeep in the field. i played Repman's Bare Bones mod for RTW (which was danged good, BTW), but that feature made managing a war tedious. Don't know much about Darth's, but I did not enjoy his mod for RTW. You'll have to try them for yourself, though, cuz only you know what makes a good game for your style.

I think it is one of the great features of DLV. It really forces the player to up his strategical game instead of mindlessly moving armies around, blitzing everyone close by and blocking all enemy armies before they get close to the cities. In DLV it is impossible to blitz the enemy because of the high costs of sieging a city. It does not need the artificial house rules that LtC asks for to achieve the goal of slower expansion.
These added costs together with the good career system add new elements to the game that I have not seen in any other mod.
It is too bad that the LtC followers have done such a good job of claiming that other mods are unbalanced. I have had a blast with DLV and have seen different scenario's unfold every single time.

In any case I strongly suggest to always add the latest Darthmod battle AI. It makes the mod so much better.

Just use the descr_campaign_ai_db.xml, descr_diplomacy.xml, descr_faction_standing.txt from Ultimate AI, and config_battle_ai.xml, battle_config.xml, descr_formations.txt, descr_formations_ai.txt, descr_pathfinding.txt from Darth Mod, and put them in landstoconquer\data

    Moved to the Mod Threads.

    I go with a mix of LTC 2.1 w/ Darth Mod OS-17.

in lusted's LTC at H/VH i reached 600,000 florins with HRE before getting into a war. (I had to start a war with milan coz i was just itching to use my teutonics). but yes, the money will slow down considerably when you get into wars. (but with 600K, who gives a peasant?)

    @zapppa
right on. dlv feels more "realistic" and is really suited for roleplaying. but it takes soooo long to play 1 campaign. hahahaha. i dont have that kind of time.

I tried Darth mod once, but i dont liked it due to Map he uses. Vanila map is horrible... Central France is completelly empty... Thats why i used Royal Arms mod, but now i'm using Stainless Steel. Actually i'm thinkink that I will switch to AD. when ver1.0 came.

I am currently using Stainless Steel 2.1. I would use Lusted's excellent LTC 2.1 if there were more provinces.
