    Default Beta 2 came out???

well this sucks, i finally started a campaign i felt i would finish all the way through! i have yet to finish any campaign on either vanilla or a mod because i had to find the right mod (and i love this one even though i had to get used to the castle/town recruit everything idea). i am finally getting my empire as Venice going, killed off the Normans in Sicily and have been thrashing the Moors in the northern part of Africa...

but one thing i keep noticing in this mod is that more often than not the Danes get their asses kicked... they have yet to take the whole of Scandanavia... i keep seeing the stupid HRE and even Poland and Russia take Scandanavia before the Danes even get 3 provinces... even Scotland gets provinces more easily it seems. Although this is supposed to be a slowdown epic campaign mod all i see the CPU players do is blitze hardcore. Poland owning territory in the Caucasus? Please! and Hungary too...

The AI Danes fall victim to the map. The modded AI chooses to go after close rebel provinces first. In the case of Denmark, the closest rebel provinces are to the south. This puts them into immediate conflict with the HRE and the Poles, and that drains their treasury quickly. A player would do the smarter thing and go after Uppsala, Stockholm and Oslo to build a good economic base first.

A possible solution would be to remove Uppsala, which is actually north of Stockholm and off the map anyway, and replace it with a Scania town of the time. A good candidate would be Lund, which would be just inland from the landbridge to Zealand. At the time it was an important bishopric, and was famous at the time for the Lund Cathedral. It would make an ideal 2nd town to give to Denmark at the start. With 2 starting provinces, Denmark would be able to hold its own better and this might also force it to choose to expand north instead of south.

yes that sounds good. i just started a danish campaign (i call it the DaneLaw lol!) and i always take Hamburg and the town and castle to the the east. i was a bad boy though and when my allies Poland took Madgeburg i laid seige to it after they took it (cuz my council of nobles had ordered me to take it!) and i promptly got excommunicated. but they violated my damn territorial goals! what is a madman, err ruler, to do?!?!?!

lol, i think maybe the Faction Leader should start out with his army closer to Uppsala (instead of sitting in the capital to start!) to at least get them going in that direction earlier too. I think it is horrible that the HRE and Poland and even Russia get into Scandanavia so early, while the Danes don't even connect their provinces (because HRE usually takes Hamburg)

Hmmm ... that's strange, in the 1.9B game I'm playing (as England), Denmark owns all of Scandanavia and Northern Germany (around the Baltic Sea). Poland and Hungary are both embroiled in a war against Byzantium. HRE and France are going at it hammer and tongs (thanks to some bribing to HRE by yours truly). So I can peacefully build my kingdom after I get rid of those pesky Irish rebels.
