i wanted to buy a new cpu and i wanted to make sure it will run without lag even if i maxed the population in Medieval 2....
please tell me ur CPU model and video card...etc
the cpu need not to be very expensive....list it if u can run medieval without lagging

i play on max unit settings, i can get about 5500-6000 men in with reasonable frame rate. its a dell xps 400, but they have a better cpu out now. http://www.dell.com/content/products...=19&l=en&s=dhs

AMD Turion 64 Mobile Technology 2.0GHz (sometimes it says its 0.8GHz???)
1GB RAM (Planning on making it 2)
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS
80GB Memory (Ordered 260 but they gave me 80 >_<)

I'm using an Alienware Aurora m9700. Play everything on max except for the bloom and turn the shadowing off. Despite all this, I'm still lagging at most games (hiccups and come-and-go lag) Probably because of my processor?

@503136, The CPU, CD/DVD Drive and Hard Drive specs appear to be fine (I prefer to build my own computers) for a store bought system but you will certainly need to replace the Video Card as the one featured with that system is only suited for business purposes at best and can hardly be called a "graphics" card at all. Others here in the basement can suggest some good midrange replacements for the VC....

What Hadrian said. It would run ok I suggest that you turn off shadows and bloom as these cause the most lag, and you should be able to play on the huge unit scales.

Both of those video cards will, frankly, and unfortunately, plain suck and will barely be able to hold down low settings. What is your budget?
