    Thanks!

    I felt all right.

    Much more simple and good.

Ah jeez, did anyone manage to do this in GIMP? I have no idea how to save it like the OP did with that nVidia plugin. In-game, the modded unit models are invisible. The texture only appears in bits and pieces when I scroll over them.

    Did you check my post:

The old texture file has to be in the same directory as the dds file.
    - Open the dds without midmaps.
    - Save dds in DTX5 format and generate mipmaps
    Convert

Right... how do I save in DXT5 format and generate mipmaps with GIMP? That's the part that's confusing. Do I do it through the nVidia plugin, which I thought was only for Photoshop? Or can GIMP do it automatically? I have the .dds plug-in and I can edit the .dds files and convert them back to .texture. I don't think I'm saving them in DXT5 format or generating mipmaps, though, because the modified texture looks corrupted in-game.

Here is the link for the GIMP DDS plug in: you simply "Save As" DDS and then a little window with the options pops up. Same happens now when you open DDS files with GIMP.

Well, stupid moment for the day. I simply clicked Save, not Save As. Thanks a bunch gigantus!

It is the generic message if something goes wrong. If you are lucky, you have a more detailed message in your log, pointing out where the error is.

    Hi.

I'm trying to learn how to edit textures. I've downloaded GIMP and the DDS plugin for it, but I'm struggling with the texture-dds converter. I found and downloaded this one, along with python to run it, but when I follow the steps in the screen shots, the new dds file does not appear. Have I done something wrong? Or is this converter too old? I'm sorry if I've made some schoolboy error, but like I say I'm just learning and I hope you can help me out.

It requires python 2.6, anything newer and the script will not work.

    Python 2.6

Here is a converter in EXE format, have a look if the download still exists.
