    Thanks a lot, I have compared the settings and mine looked a bit different. Unfortunately, it still doesn't work.

    Does it make a difference whether I save it as .dds or as .DDS? In the latter case, the texture converter doesn't show an error. It doesn't actually convert the file, though.

    Is there someting wrong with my Photoshop saving options? I'm using the German version, but the options should basically be the same in the English version.

    ("als Kopie" means "as copy"
    "Alpha-Kanäle" means "alpha channels"
    I don't know what "Kleinbuchstaben-Erweiterung" is English, it's the difference between .dds and .DDS)

    Hmm. It might have to do with what version of Photoshop you're using, but I don't think so. Are you using the current version? That's what I'm using. http://developer.nvidia.com/object/p...s_plugins.html

    It shouldn't make a difference whether you save as .DDS or .dds, but my Photoshop saves them as .dds. Kleinbuchstaben-Erweiterung does mean lower case extension. I save in lower case, and it works that way, so try that. If nothing works, then send me the file and I'll try to convert it.

    @Sir Lancelot

    U mean u dunno the answers, or u don't have this problem ? (if it's the answer n2, try to make invisible a part of a unit using alpha, u'll see that it re appears when u move the camera further from the unit on the battlefield) if the answer is number 1, too bad, but thx a lot for the tutorial though

    Yenai, it might just be because u need a .texture file with the same name as ure .dds file in the same folder, so take the unit texture u modded, copy it & give the copy the same name as ure modded .dds file, it might onely be because of that, if not, I can't help u, sry

    That solved it, thank you very much!

    @Spartan II
    Sorry for the late answer, it took me a while to download the current version. Thank you, too!

    This is one of best tutorials!
    I have only one question, I have edited so much textures and never tried it, I was editing for an example shields, and what happens if I excedently paint on the empty space, instead of on the shield?

    nothing happens, besides, u may have noticed that the vanilla skins are painted in a few empty supposed places ( only a few pixels, but if the whole empty space was colored in pink, it wouldn't change anything)

    Is there a easy way to preview your skins ??
    I'm trying to add a new faction and just did the general and wanna see how it looks on the model.
    Problem is that generals aren't in custom battles and I don't wanna overwrite it on a another faction's general.
    So is there a easy way to see it ??

    Edit: nevermind, Milkshape can do that.

    I dont get. I did everything right. My copies dont matter. Even when I overwrote the non-workng edited texture my game wont work. I have spent hours trying to fix this but NOTHING works! I really need help. I do not care about changing textures anymore, I just want my game back. Hours of my own modding have been lost because of this tutorial and if anyone can help me get my work back that would really help.

    Please help me.

    I convert the .texture file to .dds and when I try and open it, I get "Could not complete this operation. This is an Unknown File format"... any help would be appreciated

    EDIT: OOPS, got the wrong Nvidia dds tools

    Its not possible to remove them, you can only change color of it ( skin ), for removing helmets you should look at the 3d tutorial.

    K I’ve followed the tutorial through but when I play the game I cant see any changes in the units I skinned. All i did was change colour but the units are the same!?

    I think I might now the source of the problem.
    I've got my textures in the correct folders but the [io]
    file_first = true … in the medival2preferences.cfg file thing seems to be messed up. I put the code in to the file and save it but when I play still nothing , skins don’t work. Thing is when I go back after playing the code is gone from the file? I don’t understand the other option

    --io.file_first … comand in the shortcuts target. << ?

    Another thing is that I looking custom battles to test my skins do the new skins work in campaign and custom or just in campaign?

    I haven't been playing or modding M2Tw for about two months due to some graphic card problems so I'm trying to fix the problems kind of blind here.

    @secks

    After you add the
    [io]
    file_first = true

    make sure you save the file and select the read-only option in properties, that way the game will not automatically delete the command.

    Or you can add the "--io.file_first" command line in the end of the shortcut's target. It should be something like this

    "C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\M2Tw.exe" --io.file_first

    And the skins work the same, in campaign and in custom battle.

    @Mike13531

    I don't have M2Tw installed for the moment, so I'm very sorry but I can't help you for the helmets. About the 3D Tutorial look here http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=92488 . Trajan has put all the links of the available tutorials, here in TWC, in that topic.

    This tutorial is a bit old. I haven't had the chance to update it. Anyway, I think you haven't unpacked your *.pack files which are located in the \packs folder.

    You should have an unpacker for M2Tw here "\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\tools\unpacker\". Run it and then you'll have the \unit_models" folder

    About the unpacking of the files, is it important to unpack them to a different folder to prevent it messing up with the game when I try and play it?
