This thread is to discuss the pros and cons when comparing Islamicc and Catholic factions(note;if you wish to discuss the Byzantine Empire there are two toher threads by me)
You can write any thoughts concerning the chief pros and cons regarding the Muslims or Catholics. However chiefs topics that will be given priority replies are:
1.Egypt vs. France: Cavalry Kings(which country is better, in terms of heavy cavalry)
2.Indomitable Turks: Thoughts about defeating the Seljuk Turks as a Catholic faction
3.Favourite Crusader Knight order when fighting Muslims i.e The Teutonics, Templars...etc

I think in terms of battle roster, the Turks and Moors are extremely well put-together. Moors have some really cool units like Camel gunners, but as Europeans, you can use strength against them.

Then you have Turks, a super-Hybrid, they have the best Eastern and European features in their ranks, and superb heavy infantry.

If you're Catholic, you have almost no chance against the Turks, but the Egyptians are pretty easy, so are the Moors.

well the turks only truly get their strong infantry units i.e. janissaries, quite late in the game. otherwise they're not too good, nor too bad

It really depends on where you are fighting...
If we are now fighting in Arabian deserts, the Catholic factions will surely lose...
If we are fighting in snowland in northern Europe, the Muslims are kinda screwed.
Timurids and Mongolians (They count as Eastern, right?) surely owns all of them. (Great Horsemen, Elephants and Gunpowder weapons, not to mention they come in large numbers)
The Catholics might not defeat the Turks now, but they will do it later.

Turks and Egypt get super strong horsearchers right from beginning, they pwn all crusaders. Overall there is not a single type of unit, that the turks lack, they have it all, janissary muskets/archers/heavy infantry, quapukulu, sipahi horsearchers, rocket launchers, some nearby mercenary elephants(I think)

Egypt lacks any good battleline spearmen, they've got tabardariyya which is excellent assault infantry with axes, but no good spearmen.

From the european factions, I think France in the late game would surely pwn ze shite out of Turks. France has the ultimate horsearchers(very lategame) who've got longbows(9 dmg and AP), also pikemen, tough mounted and d-knights, musketeers etc.

HRE might also be strong against turks, Reiters are pretty much the ultimate light cavalry (just like camel gunners and cossack musketeers). HRE also get some tough mounted and assault units.

Portugal lacks an über light cavalry unit like the camel gunners(but jinetes are pretty good still).
Aventuro-pikemen (the best in the game), d-portugese knights, mounted ones, portugese arquebusiers, musketeers, conquistadores etc.

I'd try good ol' Fraunce or Portugal against muslims

Well spearmen are mongolian toliet paper because of those uber cav archers.. You really need to rely on western missle cav or mercs( jintes, mounted crossbowmen, tukopoles) and archers, gunners, or artilery.

1. Egypt vs. France:
Egypt lacks a balanced roster, but in terms of cavalry both factions are relatively equal.
2. Turks:
France has the best chance of defeating Turks on the battlefield, but the Turks have the upper hand in sieges.
3.Favourite Crusader Knight Order:
Hospitallers without doubt. Templars are impetuous and I don't like units that don't follow orders.

Late Catholic General's Bodyguard has a powerful charge and well-armored traits while the Islamic Late General has high (19) defense and weilds an armor-piercing mace for melee.

While Catholic nations have numerous territories and provinces, the East has large open territories with a few cities/castles.

However, everything East of Constantinople are incredible money making centers, especially Anatolia, the Levantine coast, and Egypt.
