Faster gameplay, late period? Could use some advice.
Ok, so I've played Vanilla, Ultimate AI, Seperation Mod with Ultimate AI added on, and now Lands to Conquer 2.1 standard.
With all these mods and campaigns, I've come close to the experience I'm looking for, but I'm not there yet.
I play aggressive. It's not my intention, and I'm not aggressive except against the Rebels, but I end up becoming the most powerful faction too early every time.
In Lands to Conquer I played as France, took a few rebel settlements, then England attacked me, so I retaliated by driving them out of their 1 continental province. Then, a noble's mission popped up telling me to take London, and I noticed that London was completely undefended. So I saddled up a decent force, and took it. England had only taken York, hadn't even taken Wales by this time. At this point, I was ranked no higher than 4th in any category, but I was shooting up fast so I continued attacking Enlgland and got myself excommunicated. I figured it might slow me down, but it didn't. I have Nottingham and York now, and almost all of Modern day France minus maybe Metz, but I have Antwerp.
I'm the most powerful faction, 34 turns in. Longest I've played so far before I became the best, and this campaigns got some life left, especially with LTCs AI money script helping them along, but it just means a bit slower steamroll.
That is pretty much how every campaigns gone, only the non-LTC ones were even faster.
I like LTC, I think it's pretty much the most difficult I can get. I got lucky in this France campaign, with London being completely abandoned of troops so I could take it. I can tweak a few things, make some house rules, play a smaller faction.
But the other thing is, I'm really not interested in slugging halfway across Europe with Spear Militia and Mounted Sergeants. After 25 turns, I was just getting Armoured Sergeants and Mailed Knights going.
I've been thinking about using the Late period descr_strat and adjusting the descr_events and start date with LTC 2.1, and I'm wondering if anybody has any reccomendations?
This French campaign in LTC needs to be just a bit harder than it has been, and start in a much more developed Europe, and it's perfect.

Looks promising, but I don't need alot of the bells and whistles. I'll probably borrow from it, along with LTC, when I can.
In the meantime though I'm just wondering what advice anyone can give me to help tailor the campaign to my particular playstyle. Anything you guys know that can help I'd really appreciate.
