Tornnight, do you plan to include new factions in a future version ?
Europe is mostly full but an orthodox or a muslim faction would fit. Using recoulered existing units and maybe 1-2 special.
What do you think ? Is it not necessary ?

It would be nice but my list is full of TODOs for the near future.

Maybe i start a try, after i finished my troop project. But its a shame CA doesnt publish some tools for modder for file editing esp. battlemodeldb and *.mesh Editor etc.
Yeah some kinda of Eastern faction or Eastern European Faction would be nice.
In the future of course![]()
I read some manuals and it is not difficult to add, but a lot of work. I just add for fun the Abbasid Caliphat (but not real playable, no unit recruiting pool etc.) Its easy with using the Saxon or Norman faction slot.

Would be cool for a later version of TLR.
As an orthodox faction the Georgian Kingdom in the Caucasus Mountains would be a good choice. Although most of their territory get conquered by the Seljuks they still remain and led counter attacks and Reconquista ex. during the Christian Crusades.
Or better the cumans could be implented as the Desht-i Qipchaq Kipchak Khanat, whith a great amount of cavalry. But i dont know anything about their religion. Non-Christian? Orthodox? Islamic ?
As an islamic faction the Abbasid or the Rawadid could be implented but only with terretories on the map border.

I definitely think the game needs at least 1 each of another Orthodox and Muslim faction... I mean seriously... aren't there like at least 12 Catholic factions? there is a lot of space for fighting in the eastern edge of the map... i think a Georgian kingdom (or at least one based in the Caucasus) would be good to start with. This isn't my specialty of a time period (i'm a History major specializing in Ancient Mediterranean so Rome and Hellas) but there is a need for at least one more Muslim faction (though i have no idea where they would fit on the current map (i really like the size and provinces in this one, but the map in actual area is kind of small, would like it to stretch east further into india and persia).
I would say the Kipchaks as an orthodox faction (fully christians in the 14 century, before this time area lots of native religion). They allied with the georgians, and fight against the russians, hungarians, with byzantines against bulgars, with bulgars against byzantines, with byzantines against the crusaders. They were defeated and assimilated by the Mongols. And moreover the region south-eastern Russia contains free space for another faction. There army contains of militia and peasants for guarding cities and outpost, and a cavalry - based main army (horse archers fighting mongol style and melee cavalry also heavy cavalry who carrys masks) with support of some Infantry.
Well, if we're turning this into an impromptu vote, then I'd like to see Lithuania added as a pagan faction. For the second, perhaps the Cumans/Kipchaqs as pagans or the Volga Bulgars as a new Islamic faction.
Lithuania, Bohemians, Bulgars were historical correct but in my opinion europe is crowded with factions. Lithuania will be squished by Russians or Polish folks, Bulgaria by Byzantine, Hungarian. For that factions it is necessary to add new provinces to stabilizise them, dont know about mapping maybe Tornnight is able to do this (for a further version )
Western Europe is very crowded as it is. Eastern Europe, Africa, or the Mid East would be a better target.
For example, I was contemplating dropping the Aztecs, removing America and having a bit more of the East be on the map.

well i just love that idea. i think America´s useless, and i think there´s too less space in Eastern Europa. maybe you could also think of divide some provinces in the EAst. anyway, good luck! i will certainly play this mod when its finished. im afraid i cant really help you, because im just a starter.(and maybe you could add some more Africa)
Good idea tornnight, with some more space we could implent the Abassids for example who own some regions in todays iraq/iran.
if any factions are added they should be these
-Georgian Empire-orthodox
-Berber Empire*north africa in modern day lybia and southern algeria*
-Transoxanian empire*eastern edge of map north of caspian*-islam
-Serbia-orthodox
-Vikings-pagan
-Lithuania-pagan
-Kievian russians-orthodox
*change current russians to Novrogod Republic
I am also in favor or removing the americas..
you know if you change hte aztecs name and stop them from freezing up at hte begining by changing an existing mod that allows you to play as them im sure you could have them as the vikings, obviously would have to change the textures though
The current Russian faction IS the Kievan Rus. Novgorod would be ahistorical as per 1080.
Serbia is a collection of small warlords during 1080 ... I'm not sure if they would be worth being a faction ... ditto for the Vikings (i.e. Norway and Sweden). For the rest, I can't say for sure yet. However, tornnight did mention that he wasn't thinking of adding in any new factions for beta 3 ... yet.
Beta 3 will have 8 new provinces, two of which are in Eastern Europe.
2 in Iberia,
1 in France
1 in hungary/poland area
1 in Russia
3 in Western Africa
Also, Narbronne is now repositioned as Barcelona

Wonderful. I am also on the side of removing America, in favor of expanding the map eastwards. It would allow for the inclusion of more factions to the east, such as Volga Bulgars, Cumans/West Kipchaqs and Khazars to the north and northeast and the Abbasids, Karakhanids, Ghaznavids (and later Ghurids) and Khwarezmids in the east and southeast.
I'm definatley not. Adding a faction is no small matter. Someone with serious graphics capabilities would have to help out.
In fact the biggest work when adding a new faction is in graphics.

It is funny to me that people want more Slavic and Russian and Asian factions. The truth is, according to western civilization these factions, besides the Mongols, Timurids and Teutons, didn't offer any real challenge to the West. They were mainly 'barbaric' nations that fought amongst themselves until the Late Renaissance when we hear from Ivan the Terrible and the huge Samogitian campaign which the Teutons handled pretty much on their own.
Florence
Savoy
Genoa
Siena
Pisa
Modena
Gascony(rising faction)
Burgundy(rising faction)
Swiss Confederation(rising faction)
Dutch Federation(rising faction)
Protestant German States(rising faction)
Crusader States(Templars, Teutons, Hospitallers)(rising factions)
These make way more sense and their impact was felt almost everywhere!

Hello,
First i would like to say I love this MOD... everything except the You are not my King trait.. i am playing english and 4 guys got it on same turn..
anyway..
about adding new kingdoms...
Timbuktu...
The Kingdom of Mali was a powerful african nation at this time.. and its capital was Timbuktu... maybe 2 more provinces could be added down there.. and Kingdom of Mali be added? Would be cool to get a full african textured kingdom.. just a though.. not muslim not orthodox or chrystian..
just wondered...
chekc the history on Kingdom of Mali.
