Watching his speech on TV right now. He's talking about ending the Iraq War, free healthcare in the US, destroying poverty, fixing up social security, better education, and so on. He's also talking about how politicians make empty promises (and does he perhaps make an empty promise that he won't make empty promises?).

His goals are the same every wanna be president promises and nothing happens. Clinton tried tackling health care and got shutdown, Bush tried social security and got shutdown. What makes Barack special that he'll be able to be successful? I look forward to his running though if only to see the dirty tricks pulled by Clinton people to bring him down like they allegedly started with the story about him attending a muslim extremist school as a child

My socially conservative, Evangelical sister's entire family wants to vote for him. What does that tell you about the man's appeal?

He's ballsy enough to be unashamedly honest about his liberal leanings, but noble and pragmatic enough to know the necessity of compromise and civility. He's got more than a chance. If and when he wins the primary, the Oval Office is as good as his. As long as Congress remains Democrat, then there's more than a chance that most, if not all, of his goals will be realized.

And for God's sake, why does Hillary have to keep breathing?

Right. Because when we face the truth that faith is not exclusive to one partisan ideology, and when we're confronted by a man who embodies a message of undeniable compassion and optimism, that's media manipulation.

Like every president he won't do everything he promises. It will happen. Since all of the actors like Obama, that means I don't. It is almost really that simple.

He means that "Free" health care isn't realy an accurate statement. Free health care would still have to be paid for through taxes.

Of course it works. I lived in Canada and I know first hand about their healthcare system. Moving to a totally government maintained healthcare system won't solve be what is best.

Now as to Obama's religion. I see on the web a lot of fuss about his faith.

If he is a muslim, then he denies it.

Many media, refer to him as "muslim", possibly by mistake, for example state Italian TV, this evening.

If he is a Christian, being the son of a muslim, he is an Apostate from Islam as well.
