    Default Question on early/middle/late periods

I am at 1218 AD (turn 139). Can somebody tell me how the different periods affect the unit roster? I mean I have a couple of citadels but I don't see any way to build DGK or Zweihanders (I am playing HRE). When do the different periods kick in? Is it at a set game turn number or is the game totally freeplay where you can build your high end units just as soon as you can get the buildings in place?

    Thanx.

There is no periods per say. The units just keep getting better. Check your building browser to see what you need to build the units your looking for. It's on the city or castle popup screen. Once you get gunpowder is when you'll see a real change in army makeups. It's freeplay.

    Hope I answered your question

Don't really know the exact date for the Gunpowder event. I can't seem to play one faction that long.
