Old structures are very sensetive. Here in Finland, there is an old church. Around it were roads that were constantly used by small vehicles and busses, until they noticed that the traffic caused vibrations (or something) that threathened to bring the medieval structure down. So, they diverted the traffic elsewhere and banned cars from driving around the church. Just an example.
Edit: so it may not be "ploy", but it may sure threathen the integrity of the stucture.

The Palestinian's problem begins with the unease they always feel whenever Israeli government officials start to approach the Temple Mount-Aqsa Mosque. Obviously, unless this is just some weird conspiracy theory, the Israelis are trying to repair a damaged ramp.
But notice how quickly it becomes a story about Israel plotting to demolish the al-Aqsa Mosque.
I hope people can appreciate the nature and scope of Middle Eastern propaganda.
Well, although I don't think Israel would ever do such a thing, seeing as the politically fallout could conceivably be fatal for the entire country, you can understand muslims wariness. However, what exactly do they want? For the site not to be maintained?
I think they want Israel to cooperate with Palestinian authorities when they go digging around the mosque.
There is a lot of skepticism because Israel undertakes those repair works on their own, the least Israel should do is allow Palestinian inspectors to check that it doesn't cause any damage.
But Israel doesn't want to cooperate with anyone because they consider the area part of Israel, not part of the occupied territory.
It's more political than anything else.
Palastinians are ****ing idiots. Israel is not going to knock down their little mosque. Even if they wanted to, the international heat would be unbearable.
Sure I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is Im not. I honestly feel that America is the best country and all other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.
You have no idea how delicate these kinds of situations are on a "Hotly" Disputed site where two religions clash even the slightest provocation can cause "Huge" country wide riots.
If you were British you might have some idea due to its Colonial past , but Things like these are just Wild Fire in the making if the Israelis have any brains then they can hopefully handle this without much fallout but god help them if any mishaps or accidents happen that might be misinterpreted as provocation on the other party's behalf.

That was a very ignorant comment.
That is among the things that send men wild about the holy lands. And I am sure that a good deal of us here would have to disagree with you on the comment you just made.
And it is not a 'little' mosque. That city is the third holiest in Islam. To say something like that is really an ignorant comment. Unless you are just trying to be funny, you should really take some time to learn more about the subject. I am hoping that you are just ignorant of the topic and need some knowledge. If so, www.wikipedia.com is a great site to visit for knowledge.
I am hoping you are just saying that out of ignorance rather than you just trying to be insulting.

i agree! propoganda is on a huge scope. ever notice palestinian picket signs are in phoenatic languages? one problem, they dont use a phoenetic language. figure out it it out from there...The Palestinian's problem begins with the unease they always feel whenever Israeli government officials start to approach the Temple Mount-Aqsa Mosque. my opinion on this is that in palestine people are turning to the pro-israel government rather then the hamas government so when even the slighest event occurs the hamas leaders can use it to aid there cause.
also, the israelis are renovating it for safety!!!!! is that so horrible.
in the past israel has been extremely kind to the palestinian holy sites. just as much security is focused on the al-aqsa mosque as is the western wall. and considering the violent nature of the current protests the israelis have been pretty kind.
smart response! very nice! most people dont know how important the al-aqsa mosque is to islam. That was a very ignorant comment.
