    Default Religious wars

    Hi
I was playing my HRE campaign and noticed something weird while watching the diplomacy window: All catholic factions (not me) are at war with all non-catholic factions (turks, egypt, moors, russia, byzantine empire). It's kinda odd to see scotland at war with byzantines and russia + all the muslims.
Is this some kind ofgreat invention of the UAI?

Yup it is. Generally when one catholic faction goes to war with a muslim faction, all its Catholic allies will declare war as well and soon you end up with religious wars.

yep, I noticed that as well, except it was the reverse; I was at war with the egyptians, and later, moved the mouse cursor over the Moors and it said "at war". I was like, really? I don't recall that. but it must have been the above mentioned effect!

As Sicily I am currently at war with The Moors. French, Milan and The Papacy are my allies. None of my allies are at war with the Moors. Spain is Moors vassle. Portugal is stagnent. Religon is not playing a part in my war vs. Moors.

I have noticed after Crusades that factions who have joined and not completed it will take forever or don't ever get around to declaring ceasfires.

I am noticing fewer Crudades being called. I've had only one called that I did not initiate.

I've noticed this in LTC 2.1 too. AI crusades and jihads are thin on the ground.

About crusades, i have noticed that if they are succesfull the AI always loose the conquered cities to rebels after 2-3 turns max

Well Milan is rather close to Spain so the distance penalty modifier probably did not affect them so bad ... I think the more classic crusades are more typical of being lost due to the city rebelling soon after.

But I have not noticed a lack of crusades or Jihads in LTC 2.1, actually they seem to work very well. What I have noticed is that the politics works much better and more realistic at VH ... I had been playing M since RTR ... but I am hooked now on VH because these religious war were never happening on M ... but I am 10-25 turns into my new campaign and there are wars going on all over the world.
