Default Middle Earth come to life

One of the greatest features of the RTW engine, in my opinion, is the way it translates the strategic map into the battlefields. Not only the immediate terrain of the battlefield, but also all the surrounding lands. This is a feature the M2TW engine sadly lacks (you won´t see the sea evenif you fight on a coastal tile).

However, I´ve collected some examples of what the Rome engine made of Middle Earth. Enjoy!

A picture from my Harad campaign in the Corsair Invasion release, this battle took place at the summit of the Morgul pass, providing a good outlook to the plain of Gorgoroth and Mount Doom.

Another picture from the Harad campaign, taken from Enym Arnen, looking towards the Morgul Pass.

One of my favourites, the view from Enym Arnen towards Minas Tirith.

Another great one, this battle took place on the road immediately north on Helms Deep. The view goes directly north towards Nan Curunir, and in the distance the Tower of Orthanc is faintly visible!

Edoras, seen from the mountains near Underharrow.

During the battle for Ost-in-Andrast the Dunedain fleet is visible off the Cape of Andrast.

    Well, that´s it for now.

I like that one taken from Minas Tirith
Kill a few men and you're a murderer,
    kill a million and you're a conquerer.

Since my first batch was so well received, here are some more.

Looking down the Morgul Road westwards, you can see the fertile lands of Ithilien, with its capital Enym Arnen on to of its hill on the left, and the Ered Nimrais in the far distance ahead.

Here we´ve got a look from the ramparts of Enym Arnen towards the Walls of Mordor. When the Dawnless Day approached, it must´ve looked something like this.

Standing on the northwester tower of Enym Arnen´s walls gives a great vista over the Anduin, the Pellenor Fields, eastern Lossarnach and the towering Mount Mindolluin.

From the foot of Enym Arnen´s hill, the towers of Ithilien´s capital are visible on the left, while in front the Harlond, the docks of Minas Tirith can be seen. The White City itself can barely be made out on the right.

And finally something from my earlier Dunland campaign, the lands of the Eastfold, which Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli crossed on their chase after Sarumans Uruk-Hai. In the distance Rohans border, in the shape of the Enym Muil, is visible.

Well, I hope you enjoy these as much as the last batch. If so, I´ll see if I can manage some more, considering I´m still missing out Harad and Rhun.

    Great work again!

I'd hope that this thread would receive some kind of attention, outside this forum that is... (Eagle Standard?)

The old METW beta is for RTW 1.1, so if you have that then you can try the mod. It is very outdated though... And I don't even know if it's hosted anywhere!
