    Default -move_cam

I've tried searching and no luck. I need a quick tutorial on movie_cam and any tips or tricks that people have. The editor documentation from CA is down so I'm really lost.

I haven't really used this feature much myself but here's a link to a screenshot making tutorial that does have some info on the moviecam: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=49260

Google and download Fraps - it's a program for making screenshots and movies in directX games (it also has a frame rate counter). Install & run the program, then press F9 when in a battle to start filming. The frame rate counter (the yellow numbers that should have appeared at the top left of your game screen) should go red.

    It works quite well.

    Hope this helps.

But when you make movies with the cam, it doesn't lag like FRAPS does especially on my crappy system, or so I've heard.

Well, the movie cam (which isnīt functional any more from 1.3 on anyways) only renders the battles, as far as I know it doesnīt make a file out of them which can be viewed by a third-party program, like Windows Media Player. So you stil need to capture the moviecam movie with a program like fraps.

The movie cam is functional in 1.5 as I just came out of it but I need the know the button to start recording. I know there is a button for that because it says total shot time and the time for that doesn't move when it plays so it must be for something and I suspect that it is for the recording utility.

EDIT: After rummaging around a bit, I found the documentation for download at RTWH. Here is a link for anyone needing it. Thanks CA for not keeping small files up so I have to look around to find stuff.

Oh, sorry then, I wasnīt aware of that, somewhere Iīve read it had been disabled in 1.3, so I thought this was the case for 1.5 as well. Itīs good to see thatīs not the fact.

Thanks for providing the link, by the way, I suppose itīll be usefull for a lot of people.

So can you still render TGA files with 1.5 or 1.6 using the movie_cam? I committed to do a documentary for my history project, but now I read that it won't work with 1.5. I used to do it with 1.2 successfully.

Yeah, I just tried now and no rendering with 1.5. So I'll have to dig up EB for 1.2.

If you get EB for 1.2, can you please show me where you got it? I'm in desperate need of it, as I have to make a video for a school project in about five weeks.

This is a really helpful tutorial for the movie cam. I learned a lot from it.
