folks,

firstly I apologise for this blatant 'drumming up interest post' in here (and in the other TW forums) but things are happening at the moment that are very important to you, the TW members of the site.

In January the ownership of the site changed from Ogres Net (ON) to one of the members of this site (imb39). As a result of this, and with imb's blessing, there is now a lot of discussion going on in the Curia (and probably soon the Prothalmus) as to how we want to run the site going forward.

Why should you be interested as modders? Well, for the first time there are serious attempts (which look likely to succeed) to change the upper management of this site (Hex) by adding elected members.

This means that every Citizen of the site (Civitate, Patrician, Artifex, Opifex or Divus) could have a direct say in how the site is run, and a way of appointing Modders directly to the top table.

So, please all of you spend a little bit of time and go and look at the two threads in the Curia:

Try to ignore the childish fighting of various people (myself included ) and get involved. If you are a citizen then post your views/ideas/counter proposals. If you are a member (and can't post in the Curia) then please PM your replies to any of the civs you know (I'd be happy to post your replies, I know Ozymandias, Lusted, WBK, Belisarius, imb39, Spiff to mention but a few would help as well) - or add posts in this thread that people can carry across.

So please, please get involved - this really is a huge opportunity to get the site running well for all members.

Just to add; we have some threads wandering around in the Q&S on this issue to, for instance this one; they concern modding intimately, and site governance which will directly impact on how this place runs... so any input will be greatly appreciated.

the problem of bias moderators, civs getting away with certain issues because they are 'in' with the mods etc etc is a thing of the past now?

will it be possible for people like me to get anywhere in that 'structure' now or will i stil lbe rediculed and insulted when i merely mention the world 'civ' ?

Well if you keep on getting warnings/infractions you'll never make civ.

well 1 i have right now ... is for god knows what, the other is for what was an 'unbannable offense' (not my words, moderator words from about 2 days before i found myself suspended by this 'unbannable offense')

as for the 'offense' itself? its questionable tbh because its on the issue of negative rep - i get gangbanged with the stuff, nothing happens, i give the rep back and im suspended for it - hence the bias of moderators and so forth (although thats not the only issue, i raised a complaint thread a few days before H&G entered the forum again, and i was rediculed by moderators, laughed at, not taken seriously etc etc... thats after being told to make a complaint thread by another moderator when a post of mine was deleted for little reason.)

i could go on? point is ive tried it the right way, the wrong way, upside down and sideways and it never gets me anywhere - if im not going to be rewarded whats the point of being nice and abiding by all these rules that apply to some, not to others? All i ever asked for is consistency in the first place; and one thing i never thought id see was moderators openly trolling my complaint thread ...

Well, one of imb's ideas is to allow self-proposal for Civitate. Another is to hand over the tribunal to Senatorii (ie. so it isn't run by serving moderators).

Both could go a long way to helping you (assuming you are being singled out).

But that's why we need lots of people with lots of fresh ideas contributing to this debate.

Rep is just a popularity thing, i know some great civs with low rep, and some non civs with really high rep who will probably never be civs(im thinking of ferrets btw).

Here's a tip when giving out neg rep - don't troll/flame in your comments. If people do it to you report it, but dont do it back to them as you are likely to get warned/cautioned for it.

Which is precisely the point: You do have a say, your opinions (if given) are listened to, valued, and acted upon if possible.

Anyhoo, A much under used (in regards to the TW forums) resource is the Q&S which is why I'm floating this idea, the forums only work with input from all the members, don't worry about the ranks or the Curia, your input is a valuable commodity here.

Unless I misunderstood something I must hold a title to have a say. Or be a modder. Than again, it would be far from the first time I misunderstood something.

that, funnily enough, is exactly what i did several times - i was told rep stuff wasnt a bannable offence... another inconsistency in moderating that i discovered after making my complaint that calling someone a racist is infact a bannable offence - I reported god knows how many trolls on me with the word racist in.. i didnt see one dealt with...

as i said.. consistency...

and self proposal isnt going to get me in, im well aware of the vast majority of the 'in' folk having a bit of a dislike for me... Meh whatever.

Yup, just because someone isn't a Civitate doesn't mean that they won't have good ideas or be able to comment on what is going on.

The structures that will be put into place over the next month or so will affect everyone on the site, so I personally can't see any reason why everyone can't get involved (if they want to).

And could someone forward this in bold text, underlined text, caps on, size=huge etc., that there are modders who want to improve the site/come with the suggestion, but they can't since they do not have the necessary rights to post in the curia!?

Ozy, you are forgetting that some modders don't want to take part in the Curia, as they feel it is too bureaucratic.
