Default If You're Playing on the Big Map (provincial campaign)...

Make sure to swap out the desc_character.txt file from the Big_Map folder in Important_Stuff (copy it into /data, overwriting the existing desc_character). This will bump up movement rates to compensate for the bigger scale.

Which one's the big map -- is that the map with the "Mundus" campaign?

  3. #3

Default Re: If You're Playing on the Big Map...

    No the other one.

Default Re: If You're Playing on the Big Map...

The Imperial Campaign is on the Mundus Map, which is larger in scope (further to the east and south), but smaller in scale.

The Provincial campaign is the IceTorque WarMap, smaller in scope but much larger in scale, which we refer to as the 'big map.'

The default desc_character.txt is for the Imperial (Mundus) map. If you're going to play on the Provincial map, swap this file out to get the correct movement rates.

CHERY! can you guide me in systematic way? coz i dnt get it waaaa! You mean to say.. i should go to Important stuff and get the desc_char or copy it and paste it to the big map to replace the desc_char in there right?

Default Re: If You're Playing on the Big Map (provincial campaign)...

No...you take the desc_char.txt file and copy it (the whole file) into your /data directory. It will ask you whether you want to copy over the existing desc_char.txt file that's there. The answer is yes.

You don't have to open the file, just move it from the /important stuff folder into the /data folder

    HI
Will there be more towns in this big map?
I see alot of empty space in the east and also the west.
also will the forrests be cut down meny places you cant get to!
I love this map with extra historical citiies!
Do i need to do the above also?
It seems fine with me the movement rate. And does that mean the troops movement?
Also what new stuff will you add to this map ?
And will i have time to play this campaign iam at year 258 b.c.
    And haveing a blast!

    thanks

The reason for changing is that it helps the AI act a little more intelligent :hmmm:

Since it seems that any 'disastrous' bugs are dealt with, any future Patches will just be adjustments to maps and stats...maybe a unit added or removed. But nothing that will require you to scrap a campaign. So play on!

HI!!! i need help DVK TYR AND TYRONE pls. I saw this folder in IMPORTANT STUFF the "landbridges". I was trying to paste it in to my bigmap campaign not imperial. I just need to verify if i did right coz i havent played it yet. actually i reinstalled my rtw and patched everything again. but im confused with the instruction about the landbridge for bigmap.. it says:

Copy the 280BC_200AD folder in your campaign folder to a different place, like a backup folder.
Then copy the 280BC_200AD folder in this folder and paste into your campaign folder.
Your campaign folder should be: ...\data\world\maps

the only part where i am confused is about WHERE THE CAMPAIGN FOLDER SHOULD BE... I really believe that it should be pasted in \data\world\maps\campaign\280bc-280ad RIGHT??? PLS LET ME KNOW IF I DID IT RIGHT. Coz if i just simply paste it in Maps folder... theres just simply no folder in the Maps folder to be overwritten by the new 280bc-280ad folder! PLS PLS PLS let me know thanks.. a lot! XOXOXOXO

    Yes, you're right:
\data\world\maps\campaign\280BC_200AD should be overwritten with the landbridge files

The province limit has been reached on both maps, and for the new cities on the BigMap I had to replace the towns on the edges of the map to put them in the middle of the map.

swhunter, I'm not sure if we can add any cities to either map, I think the limit has been reached, but I'm not sure. Are there any places you see where a region could be removed, to make room for one somewhere else?

Also, we will be breaking up the unpassable forests on the Big Map so that there will be more options for moving around.

I think (I hope!) the wonders were taken out so that they wouldn't unbalance the game with their bonuses. I know dvk has ideas for 'wonder' type buildings that the player has to build, but that is a low priority item given all the other things he's working on...

Lots of work is going on behind the scenes, the mod is getting better and better!

I wasnt thinking of bonuses of takeing an historical landmark but loved it in EB Modd which i hope you guys can add in the future. Just haveing it there for the sightseeers! lol
It just seems in the east and west their were more cities just like in MM Map
Is this map just at larger look for the MM map?

I've seen what EB did with their map...all the little villages, farms, etc. Unfortunately, that's their stuff, and we have no one who can do that. Also, I really like to keep things 'clean'. The more demand you put on the graphics, the slower the game plays, and the more likely you have video card overheating...or just choppy performance. I think EB has really taken the RTW engine to the 'graphical outer limits'.

No i just like the temples on the battlemap
And other historical buildings or monuments on the battlemap

And very true it was jumpy at times but never crashed!

Yet i love your ( RS) skins for these factions, and your skys are outstanding!! I feel iam there!!
and the new idea of haveing legions with the correct names is cool!
Plus haveing the big map. But i know you men are not finished andi see this way more better!
    thks DVK and others!!
Yes clean is very good, but will a few monuments on the battlemap hurt the game play?
True they had tons of stuff to read and look at on the map!
But i must say haveing some of those ideas for buildings and temples of different types does sound cool what do you think?

thanks DVK ! man i wish i could help!
