    Default Katana identification

I recently inherited a Katana Blade (it has been re-fitted with tsuba and wrapping.. as far as i know I'm afraid that the owners (my (great, so I was told) grandparent) are dead ...not funny i suppose) and I am desperate to know the age. I'm geninely interested in anyones knowleage in this area and I have several pictures of relevant parts. I have studied Metallurgy for a short time and I know that the blade is hand made and that the wrap is rayskin; other than that I'm an ignorant Englishman, my avatar has a pic of the top end, and I will post W/out hesitation the other parts. Thank-you in advance...

Go find sword forum online. I dont have the link right now but there are plenty of people you can ask there. Look in Nihonto forum.

thanks for the reply, i have looked but because of the mish-mash of parts, id. is v.difficult. I've even done a (v.bad) bit of Japanese/English translation in my efforts but nothing has come of it! i'll have a look at that forum, thanks again.

Wow.. It could be cool to know if the sword is from the last era of the Samurais.
