How Many Artist are Members of TWC?

Maybe this thread has been done before but Im curious how big the artistic community is here....sorry no musicians need post .I am currently getting a degree in 3-d computer animation and modeling and have been drawing all my life. The past 2 years I have been taking nothing but fine art course's and am now learning my way around 3dmax and photoshop ce. I hope to be working in the digital industry within the next two years hopefully in games or film. What Id like to know is whom among you are artist's and what kind of backgrounds and goals do you have, like , is it a hobby? a career goal? currently work in a related industry? ect. Thx for posting

I'm a semi artist. I like to draw and what not. As a hobby of course, i'm not artistic enough to do it for a living.

Im an amateur artist and i plan to make a career out of it. Tis a hobby.

What do ya'll do now? school or work? Have you tried out any graphics software? I try to encourage folks to not discount there natural abilities especially when there are so many options these days.

Very nice! I need to take some painting course's next....fear of painting ,but want to learn to paint like the old masters.

Never took classes.

Originally I was a hobby artist. I love oil painting and ceramic sculpture but haven't done any for a few years.

I have apparently been typecast at school as the 'environmental artist' of our grad school game projects- mostly for my texture art since there isn't anyone better than me, though also for my 3DS Max skills. Very likely every job I have after I graduate will have artist in the job title if not description.

Unfortunately, I have absolutely no time for hobbies anymore. No more drawing or painting, despite having abundant supplies of drawing pads and oil paints. Everything I do now is only on the computer and for school.

Yea my dad gave me these brushes, paints and empty canvases for christmas and i just started painting.

Same here. I like to do alot of Digital works as a hobby, I enjoy it, but it's just a hobby. I can do a little painting (family's been fairly artistic) but i'm not a good one.

I'd like to get into more visual arts though, I love going to art museums.

So for me, a hobby, no more, no less.

What else do you do? Is there anything preventing you from pursuing a career in the visual arts? This is my way to kinda get to know some of you here and also meet some creative individuals.

I enjoy performing arts better, and I'm better at it, so it's just a little easier. Nothing really preventing me, but i don't have the talent in hand drawn material to pursue it.

I do get very artistic in the fall though. New England autumns are quite the spectacle, so I like to attempt to capture the beauty, through photography, painting, or digital work (Photoshop etc).

There are many forms of art and not all to do with making pictures.
I plan to write novels etc. i consider that an art

Well, music could be considered one too but I think he's just asking for visual artists

As far as visual arts go, most I can do is detailed sketches of designs at different angles and projections. We get taught to do a lot of those in engineering... and personally, there's nothing more beautiful than a detailed, dimensional sketch of a product design. At least on paper

Id say you have a lot of potential. Also I think artists are there own worse critics. So if ya'll are hobbyists or artists what do you do now and do any of you intend to enter an art related field esp @ shigawire :hmmm:
