Thread: AI army composition & royal line management.

Default AI army composition & royal line management.

I absolutely love this mod, it has become THE way to play M2 for me, but these two issues I have with it have been bugging me a bit.

First and foremost, would changing the AI help with the way it recruits units? Because I often find that the AI will recruit half stacks of the most expensive units (knights, foot knights etc) instead of investing in an well rounded army with militia units, and that takes away from the enjoyment a bit because every battle ends up being the same and unrealistic. I understand that this is a very old game with it's limitations but I would like to know if this is something being worked on or simply a limitation of the game itself.

Second of all, am I doing something wrong with managing the family tree? A third of all the games I start end up with my royal line dying out within two generations and an usurper always taking up power. I try to carefully manage it by denying marriage requests and etc but even while trying to be constantly on top of it I still face this problem too often, with no marriage proposals for my faction leader. Also, too many women being born doesn't help.
If this mod could include the "next hair ancilliary" mod optionally or I could somehow do it myself that would be a big help, I have tried including that submod by myself whilst knowing that SSHIP is incompatible with every submod with no success.

And my thanks to all the devs who have provided me thousands of turns of a highly enjoyable mod.

ad. 1 - ok, I hear that. We can do something about it as the AI does have a buff in the availability of the knights' units that makes it recruiting them a lot. I had in mind creating a challenge for the player (the AI used to recruit mostly militia), but it might be too much indeed.
ad. 2 - as far at the marriage proposals are concerned: the point of having the Court Ladies script is to provide the player with possibility to marry out the FL (or whatever general he wants).
    - the mod does include the Next Heir system, but not through an ancillary but through a choice once you're starting the game.

It is definitely a challenge in battle! But at the same time I observed that it opens up the AI for an unchallenged attack by either the player or the AI, because when it starts a war it'll start very strongly but as soon as it's first (of normally two) armies get defeated it has a hard time making a cohesive army again, I'm guessing that once their pool of elite units run out it's refusing to build a new one with militia.
Mind you, I made these observations against France while playing as Scotland, so this might not apply to every faction, I tend to toggle the fog of war not to cheat but to see what the AI is doing far away. Right now France is at war with the Leonese and the army they're fielding in Spain is very strong, but on my front (Normandy) all of their settlements are abandoned and there is no army to be seen, while I'm sure that by the amount of settlements they have they would be able to field at least three armies if they had a core of militia.

And yes it clicked for me yesterday that this was the purpose of the court ladies script hahah, thank you.
