Default Ultimate General: American Revolution - development build released!

Ultimate General: American Revolution's development build has been released. I really enjoyed Ultimate Admiral: Age of Sail.

Are you interested in the new game? If you're playing the development build, I'd be interested to hear of your experiences.

Not at all. I find Darth Vader's insistence with late 18th to mid-19th American History quite peculiar. Yes, I liked Gettysburg and I would have liked UG:AR instead. But 3 games with land battles in a row about the wars in North America? That's too much.

I honestly wish he would diversify and go for a WW1 game, with ship battles included.

I guess it depends on which eras and settings you prefer. I like the setting - the idea of a nation fighting for its independence is more appealing, at least for me, than the clash of empires in WWI.

The ship battles worked well in Age of Sail, and I would have liked a more Total War-style campaign in that game - I hope that UG: AR will offer that.

The system of armies moving in real time (as opposed to turn based movement) on the campaign map looks interesting - I hope this will lead to interesting scenarios. For example, I can imagine a situation where the player has two small armies marching in parallel, and you have a choice between fighting the enemy with just one army in a favourable location (such as defending a bridge), or combining your armies but fighting on a more even battleground.
