The evil Spaniards colonized our country they did nothing to help us only killed and raped us (I have nothing against Spaniards ok) then came the Americans then took us as a colony and improved are country and gave us independence.

    The Poms were our colonizers.

Practically killed off the Aboriginals too.

Oh well, I think Australia has evolved into it's own nation by now, we're completely separate legally from England, it's just the formality of the commonwealth that binds us still.

Queen is still the head of our country.

In extreme cases...you can even appeal to their highest court

    No you can't.

They removed the right of appeal to the Privy Council in the 80's.

Now the highest court of appeal is The High Court of Australia.

And even so, she's only the head of our country ceremonially.

Well...I think first it was the vikings that came and subjugated us, until we kinda merged and became one people. Then I think it was the mongols that came to subjugate us until we also merged and more or less became one people. Kinda.

Thats the over simplified story of my people, the russians. Sorta.

Various prehistoric dudes, including megaliths-erecting dudes
    then Celts (Specifically, Osismii)...
    Then Romans.
Then Britons in two waves, first as soldiers, then as refugees.
    Franks in the west.
Vikings attempted to colonize too, but were driven back.

The despicable Dutch colonized and exploited our lands with nothing in return until the last minute of its 350 years long occupation. Thank God our first president decided to kick every single one of them out of the country when we gained independance, otherwise their descendants would have become the 'ruling class' who are in control of the government above the native people in my country today just like in many countries in South America.

What country would that be out of interest?

I think... and I'm not entirely sure about this, but I think that the English colonized Australia.

Funnily enough, Dictionary.com cites us in two examples for the definition of the word 'colonized'.

By the time Australia's first colony been founded Britain had joined in union so the colonization would of been people from Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales but the vast majority would of been English due to it's higher population.

Who..Wha..?? Oh sorry, I was raping a filipina and I lost your point...

Seriously now, colonialism has done a great harm to many cultures in the world. In no way I feel guilty for what my ancestors did, however. And yet, positive things have risen from it.
