Default Depiction of Religious items/imagery in Mods. (and base game)

    Hello.

I have always been interested in and like history, and history games.
    Chivalrous playthroughs are very good

But as a person of religious beliefs which says i should treat religious things (text, images, religous historical persons ) respectfully I find I am uncomfortable or feel disrespectful trying out a lot of mods and finding certain things in the game, because of the depiction of religious items which I find unsuitable to be used in games .

I do usually try mods that have less of such.

Some things in the original game I found so too. Like certain religious ancillaries I really felt should not have been added in the original game and were very disrespectful by Creative Assembly Australia dev team to choose to deliberately include .

I did manage to find the ancillaries files recently (export_ancillaries.txt and export_descr_ancillaries.txt) and edit/remove what i could so hopefully that works .

But it was very tiring! to go through all the ancillaries files to do this .. but at least i can now play and enjoy mtw2 vanilla base game a little more .

Other issues - some voice speech dialogue of characters on main campaign map and sometimes generals speeches which i skip , (I play with voices volume setting off because of it) , also it does feel over the top racial stereotypes which i also disliked

    - Jerusalem being included as a settlement in the game which can be 'conquered' in disrespectful ways .

    - names of 'heretics' problematic, also that some names of 'heretics' are jewish and then your religious agent targets them .. very disrespectful

    - your religious agents can become 'heretics'.. something that is distasteful that i didnt like at all.

    - Generals acquire 'traits' as well as ancillaries that are disrespectful, or have disrespectful text descriptions

(I do rename the City in game usually by clicking the scroll tab and editing)

    - the ability to destroy houses of worship

    - disrespectful loading screen quotes

    - buildings /religious buildings and also other text descriptions by original creative assembly game developers can be extremely innacurate, and offensive, disrespectful . I saw many examples of either willful or uninformed ignorance, or i suspect even deliberate insulting/prejudice or biased views, in intentionality with certain things.. and that's just in text description alone.

I could also add other things they made active choices which also raise huge red flags..

I would have to write an entire article going through everything they did, and listing it out, but i rly dont have time or energy to do so in depth .

(on a side note there are some ugly casual racism/cultural stereotypes problems in the game, for example in general's speeches, or voice dialogue stereotypes, or ancillary/trait/building descriptions I also saw that was dislikable . However I wont get into that now, the main focus I had was on religious sensibilities)

I think thats the main issues I had in vanilla mtw2 official campaign, I dont play the crusades kingdoms expansion mod..

Edit: And the original Mtw 1 never had all these issues. It might just be easier for me to go back to playing that game, than changing all the problems I have with this one sigh.. !! >_<

    But for mods its -

-depiction of religious scripture/script on faction crests, flags, banners, shields, units on faction choosing screen, on campaign map units, on battle map units
-loading screen quotes of religious scriptures or script on loading screen/faction choosing screen, how to edit text description, how to prevent religious agents going heretical, how to change agent names.. etc etc. smh so much to change and do.
    - depiction/iconography images of important religious figures on flags during battles, and on ancillaries.

I dont have time now to edit, delete, change all those things, but would it be possible to teach me how to do so, so if/when i have any time in the future i can change those things and experience different mods ?

like deleting/changing and names of files/where to locate them of

    - loading screen images/banners, loading screen quotes, settlement names file (what's it called?), unit battle flags, unit campaign flags, faction crest. And all the other stuff i mentioned.

I did learn how to turn banners during battles completely off (i have to look it up again if someone could remind me) but i really liked having flags and banners on during battles , so would rather just edit or delete or copy and replace unproblematic flags banners from another faction If you could teach me to do that .

I wish I had time to make my own world map mtw2 mod but cant find time to learn to mod and make one at the moment .

(by the way is there like a step by step guide teaching how to mod 'everything'? would be interesting to read, whats the best one , where can i read it? )

But any help is appreciated for those of an understanding and tolerant (of different ppls different religous beliefs) nature who gets where im coming from

plz dont flame or attack me i know discussing such a topic can attract some controversy from ppl who wont like my views. i just thought i would ask for the knowledge how to change some things to make it a better experience for those with the same types of concerns, hope this is ok .

also i hope i havent said this before, or repeated myself. memory is kind of affected since vaccinations smh..

I see where the concerns come from and it's an interesting perspective, though it is not feasible for mods or the developers to appeal to them. There is no all in one guide to mod (most people's beginnings are like yours: see a need, make tweaks, continue from there), but going through Gig's Creating a World series is a good start and will give you the fundamentals of many areas in modding. Start small, test changes often.
