Giving him money is one thing, but going to prison for a man who can't be bothered to lift a finger to help you when you need it, because you're in a situation he caused, is a step too far.

At most, he will get house arrest. That is if Biden doesn't pardon him just like Nixon was pardoned. And if Biden wants to avoid pushing the USA much closer to civil war, he would do that.
Because if Trump is convicted and Biden pardons him, then Trump is humiliated. And that's worse than a few years of house arrest.
Biden pardoning Trump would be the stupidest decision in the nation's history. It would be seen as a massive victory for Trump. He would brag that it was because Biden is scared of him or hoping Trump will pardon him for the many crimes the right claims Biden has committed. It would also be a green light to any other would-be traitor to steal state secrets and sell them.

As for civil war, not a chance. These same people were unable to cope with mild inconvenience caused by the covid lockdowns. They absolutely cannot stand the hardships of actual war. I'd give the MAGA crowd a week at most before they were begging to go to prison.

Durham provided a partisan, fact-free rant that couldn't find a single crime to charge anyone with. Just more crying about how the whole world is mean to Trump for being the most special little boy ever.

I don't think Biden will pardon Trump. So one has to hope (for the US's sake - you won't ever return from the precedent of banning major candidates a year from a general election) that the court will simply not find him guilty.

Biden is probably aware of that too, though. And he could say as such.

It's not clear that him being found guilty would even prevent him from running. I don't think the Constitution sets any limit on that save for espionage and treason restrictions.

Former President Donald Trump said the leaked audio tape of him allegedly showing a group of guests a classified Pentagon document at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, was just "bravado" and that he "didn't have any document" during the recorded chat, according to media reports.
    Let's see:

-First he claimed he had every right to show anyone any top secret documents he wanted.

-Then he claimed the FBI must have planted all of them.

-After that he said he declassified them.

-Then he said he didn't know he had them.

-Now he says he was only pretending he had them.

And I'm probably missing a few.

The prosecution should go through every excuse Trump gave publicly and have his lawyers explain why he was lying then, but definitely isn't lying now.

Michigan's attorney general Dana Nessel has announced that more than a dozen Republican figures have been charged with felony offenses as part of a so-called "false electoral" scheme.
The allegations stem from claims that 16 GOP figures in the state plotted to wrongly declare that Donald Trump had beaten Joe Biden in Michigan in the 2020 Election by falsely claiming they were the official slate of electors.
This is the first time anyone has been charged over any "false electors" scheme, which is alleged to have taken place in states across the country in the wake of the last election as part of efforts to keep Trump in power.
Trump likely promised pardons if they got caught. Once one of them makes a deal to turn state's evidence, Trump will face conspiracy charges.

We only need one to turn though. As for the rest, I think a ten-year minimum in prison will set an example.

Better make three of them; once the first folds, the others will swiftly follow. Then put them in prison. Life in prison for the traitors that didn't turn on Trump, 3-8 years for the rest of them.

Former President Donald Trump again pointed a finger at President Joe Biden's handling of classified information in light of the Department of Justice (DOJ) bringing additional charges against Trump in the Mar-a-Lago documents case.
The former president is now facing 40 charges, including willfully retaining classified documents and obstruction of federal justice, in the DOJ's investigation into the cache of sensitive information recovered from his resort home in Palm Beach, Florida, in August.
The additional charges announced Thursday stem from accusations that Trump attempted to wipe the security tapes from his Mar-a-Lago estate after being subpoenaed for the footage by federal prosecutors last summer. He is also being charged over his statements during a recorded conversation with guests at his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club, in which the former president is accused of sharing a top-secret Pentagon document with associates who did not have security clearance.
I imagine at the trial Trump's entire defense will be demands for Hunter Biden to be jailed and executed and threats towards the jury.

I find it quiet accurate. For example Republicans constantly accuse Democrats of cheating in elections, yet over and over again their investigations only turn up Republicans cheating.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Tuesday indicted former President Donald Trump in its investigation of the January 6, 2021, siege on the U.S. Capitol, following months of speculation.
The DOJ's investigation initially centered around the attack, which saw a mob of Trump supporters—allegedly incited by his unfounded claims of widespread voter fraud— violently protest at the Capitol in a failed effort to block President Joe Biden's 2020 Electoral College victory.
Trump was indicted on four counts, including conspiracy to defraud the United States; conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding; obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding; and conspiracy against rights.
It is becoming increasingly clear that Trump will live out the remainder of his life in prison unless he does something drastic. I wonder if he might decide to quit the race and throw his support behind another candidate in exchange for the promise of a pardon?

Which is stronger, ego or self-preservation?

If he drops out of the race then his chances to escape prison are significantly lessened.

The best way out for Trump to avoid the consequences of his crimes is to become elected again and use all the power of his office to obscure justice in a nice and great abuse of power.
The second best way, if he is not the nominee for Republicans is to threaten making a 3rd party unless the republican nominee agrees to pardon him.

But really, any Republican potus will pardon Trump. Nixon was pardoned anyway. Faced with the prospects of MAGA in arms, Biden may pardon Trump anyway.

Biden pardoning Trump will happen the day Trump says "I'm sorry, its all my fault" about anything.

-A Trump pardon would be a green light for every single Republican candidate from here on out to try to cheat their way into power or use violence when a Democrat is in office. Why wouldn't they if all that will happen if they get caught is a few of 'the lower orders' go to prison? Do you imagine they will have any ethical or moral objections to doing exactly as Trump has done? Only one of them has to succeed, just once, and the United States is the new Russia.

-Pardoning Trump won't make any difference to his cult. They were howling about deep state communist pedophile conspiracies and screaming to lock up every Democrat all the way back in 2015 and haven't stopped since. It is even worse now as they clamor for revenge for what is happening to Trump because of Trump's actions. They see him as a Christ-like innocent who has been persecuted by pure evil for his heroism, charity, courage, and of course his humility as he fights the pedophile conspiracy that everyone they don't like is part of. These people are not going to suddenly become reasonable.

-Pardoning Trump won't make any difference to Trump himself. He will not be grateful. Instead he will feel completely vindicated in his narcissistic delusions that he is above the laws mere mortals must follow. He will double down on calling for revenge for the 'persecution' he has suffered, demanding total and absolute power as restitution. And with voters having rightfully abandoned Biden and the Democratic party in disgust after they pardoned Trump, who will stand in his way? The Republicans?

All true. And especially the first one "oh, so a PotUS can do whatever the #### he wants, even try to throw a coup, and will still walk around free because the next guy won't dare let the convictions hold" is extremely dangerous for both Left and Right and Center.
But it has been done in the past, from Ancient Rome to Nixon and in many places. It is how democracy dies.

And as much as I dislike the democrats and their progressive agenda, this is a good reason to NOT vote for Republicans. Because a Republican PotUS WILL pardon Trump. And that WILL send the message that "you can try to violently overthrow the government and you will still be pardoned".
    It is how democracy dies.

Thus, even if one thinks Biden is the most corrupt PotUS in history (I don't think so but that's beyond the point)... corrupt Presidents, governors and administrations can be thrown out with elections.
To overthrow a dictator you need a revolution.

What Trump accepts means nothing. His outbursts are just the empty tantrums and threats of a small child. I hope the judge sends him to a cold, bare cell until his trial, give him his first taste of discipline in his life.
