Further to my posts about Kingdom of Hungary and other camapigns that I have ongoing I will post screen shots of how the campaign is progressing.
NB. I am deliberately playing in, lets call it an historical manner, in other words I will not do things too ahistorical.
I even assist the AI with money and territory -if that seemed historically accurate.
On the otherhand I still wish to enjoy a campaign I just make it difficult and more complicated with my own house rules

On that note the war with the Hussites continues in the Kingdom of Hungary

I will let you know exactly which ones I have used when I actually know. But I have also lowered lighting a little too. And it has been a lot of trial and error to get something I like. Not everyone will agree of course.

The war on the Danube frontier contiues, Bosnia has been lost. János Hunyadi has died in battle in Smyrmia. At this time Sultan Murad II was assinated, unfortunately leaving the throne vacante for Sultan Mehmet. Mehmet then took Konstantinoupolis.

There still remains northern Hussites to put down, they have a large army gathered; unfortunately the Ottomans have also gathered a huge force on the Danube and in Bosnia intent on invasion. Hunyadi Mátyás has gone with his mercenary army to confront them along with his Serbian allies to repel them, but are massively outnumbered.





As you can see the trouble with mercenary armies if not properly led will revolt and cause just as much trouble as the Turks and heretics

With regards to the overall campaign.
The Ottomans are a definite threat now, but I have given them substantial financial aid. Now I am actually looking at invasions by the Turks that I have difficulty combating.
If I make the mistake of leaving armies without loyal generals they are prone to mutiny (I know how Charles V felt or Bourbon) then I have an army of highly trained mercenaries to fight as well as Turks and Hussites.
On an overall strategy it seems that I might have to seize Bosnia and Usora to prevent them falling to the Turks. This of course means betrayal of a long term alliance.
Further to this the Karamanoğulları Beyliği or Karamanid Beylik is fighting a long war with the Ottomans as are the Aydınoğulları Beyliği or Aydid Beyliği.
This presents a "second front" which could possibly be exploited if the King of Hungary reached out for alliance.

By all means go ahead. Yes I gave the Ottoman money lots. Again the only issue is bombard spamming by the AI artillery should be in my opinion much harder to get and maintain, not to mention if we could find a way to do a winter script and baggage train script would make using artillery a big decision. As this will slow down movement.
In reality the Ottomans gathered their major campaigns from Edirne/Konstantinople, where all the troops gathered for campaign and headed from there. They did not have forward operating bases. That would put too much power in the hands of the local Bey.

A battle ensues

The first thing the Hungarians and Bosnians decided was to take a defensive position, knowing Ottoman tactics they deployed chevaux de frise to protect their front, while leaving their potent aristocratic cavalry free to fight

Having suffered just one too many invasions, one too many slave raids the Bosnians could not resist the need to get revengev onthe hated infidel

What started as a defence soon became a revenge, eveyone was hunted down and slaughted, any thoughts of chivalry were quickly forgotten. After all these were heretic heathens

Well most of the Sultans army was destroyed the personnal troops of the Padishah stood and fought to their death

The Hungarians and Serbs find themselves in a situation.
Should they attack the three Ottoman armies outside Smederevo, and capture the city or withdraw due to the Ottoman reinforforments enroute, or attempt to throw the dice on winning a battle on the assumption that if winning can turn to confront incoming army of local Bey?

Please let me know your thoughts before I proceed it would make it our campaign, "you" whoever you maybe could be my advisers, keeping to role play my Barons.
They don't always agree, nevertheless Hungarian politics make it so the king depends on the Baronial concent.
I can't do a poll.
Nor do I plan on waiting that long. First few become my advisors for future. Become my Barons.

The battle of Smederevo 1465

The Hungarians set up a defensive position around their wagon forts and gun emplacements



A secure infantry emplacement means nothing to aristocratic noblisimos who dedicated to an ideal of martial prowess charge the Ottoman lines



The Ottoman attempted to flank the Hungarian position, but were met with gun fire and Serbian knights and were wholly destroyed




Tactics for the while go out of the window as the battle turns into a slogging blood fest


Eventually after several hours of battle the Turks break and the Krajišniks hunted down the remaining infidel

That sounds what I am thinking, but if I can hold it it would prevent anymore incursions. But as you say and so did the Hungarians to fight defensive, I am being overwhelmed. What do you think I should do about Bosnia? Rescue my allies or annex them to save my own borders?
