    Default Wow!

Ive been playing the mod now for 3 hours straight and all i can say is it was worth the wait. Im playing as the Romans and ive killed the pyrris(?) guy by surrounding him with armies. Now I control all of italy except for 1 nothern province called genua. Im pullin in like 30k a turn and have about 200k in my coffers. Trying to upgrade to see some imperial legions . Well im goin to bed now but i just wanted to say GREAT WORK!

P.S. Post all your praises for the mod in this thread so we dont clog the forums

    very Very Nice!!
iam playing the romans right now!
    excellant skys, beautifull skins,
    One Question
since i deleted the auto save in pref.
    by putting it to false
i go to the save box when hitting ESC. there is no save feature.
Iam not sure what to do with the next step.

Oh yes also when playing a custom game i noticed when the game is on hold before giveing orders i would point to each unit to take a quick look
sometimes it would stick on them before looking at the next unit before starting the start botton.
is this me? Or a small bug?
    thks

Did you put it in this Mod? I couldn't get it to work. And yes I am working on a music package.

What do you mean,.you've almost completed the campaign or you've had enough? A lot of balance will go in to RS release 2. If you are to provide feedback like that, we would appreciate a bit more constructive feedback, like what you think needs improving, how to make it harder, better etc.

Yes, I'm curious to know what you mean also. I played for four DAYS and never got out of Italy! Either I'm just an inept player, or you're a genius. Was it too easy???

I've played Romans for 2 hours now, and I don't feel that I will ever get enough of them
I tried to surround Pyrrhus in my first turn, and when I hit the end turn key, turned out he marched to Capua. He took the city in the same turn (I hate elephant rams). Quite a shocking experience!!!

I immediately sought revenge, sieged Pyrrhus in Capua, send another army to Tarentum (captured it at 55% casualties!), and an expedition force to Thermon. At the mo, Pyrrhus is being starved in Capua and the Tarentum force and Thermon force (took Thermon in a small battle) have merged and are sieging the capital. My fleets are blockading the docks. So after 5 turns, I'm in a good position to kill the Epirotes...

    I love this mod!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now thats the kind of feedback we want! We dont mind negative criticsm, but we need to know what exactly should be worked on and improved.

Well, I can hardly give any negative feedback

I must say you are the first to succeed in battles lasting that long (VERY good work with the stats on that point). The units rout very late, so you really have to break through battle lines; and with those epirot phalanxes: very hard (like it must have been historically ). Street fighting is very realistic (had two equites units fight one militia cavalry for 3 or 4 minutes).

I haven't noticed anything about the battlefield AI, but I suppose it's a little soon to judge that, although I think you should have either given the Romans less garrisons, or either give the Epirotes more cities and a better Pyrrhus army (with some silver chevrons perhaps?). Because I was able to blitz them really really fast.

The only thing in battles that might not be 100% right, is that an entirely surrounded unit will keep on fighting. However, if you charge them while their morale is steady, you can break them. It's all about the moment of the charge, like if you charge everything in at once, the enemy will keep fighting very long, while you could have surprised and scared them as well ==> rout

All I could figure for today
    I'm so happy

Yes, they should give up more of a fight, and the issue will probably be worked upon; it should defintley take longer than 5 turns. The difficult thing is balance; if we make it too strong so that the Roman player gets a challenge, the Roman AI will be suffering for a long time; and the human player would have a very easy campaign if they play as Epirus.

My fault I'm afraid - I kept saying to DVK - longer battles, longer battles, more defence stats, more defence stats, which was why we ended up having that last minute delay trying out a new battle stats system. I like what we've ended up with....I think, other than some fine balancing, DVK has done a great job.

The key, (maybe I shouldn't give this way? I guess it's common RTW strategy though) is to charge cavalry in from behind once the enemy have been engaged for a while.

It depends a lot on which of the maps you play as well. The Mundus Map allows less leeway in Italy, and was configured the way it is now because it worked the 'least worst'. Anything else seemed to result in Epirus gaining too strong a foothold in Italy and then ravaging the Romans to the point where they get eliminated early. It depends on the player also, if you play as Rome and barge down there with all of Rome's armies...yeah, you'll nuke Pyrrhus.
I like to wait and see what he does....weaken him, run his army down as was the historical situation.

On the Large map, however, because there are more regions in Italy, the Roman vs Epirus situation is very different. There are two 'Free People' cities between him and Rome. But they don't like him anymore than the Romans sometimes, or one of them may attack the Romans in concert with him. So it provides not necessarily a 'better' battle, but a different one altogether.

And thank you for the nice feedback......I had thought from what you posted that you had WON the Roman Campaign in four hours......a little scary.

Wow, thats a great offer! I remeber reading about it in your forums and it sounds really interesting, especially the legion trait thingy. And the trait and ancillary system is one of the only areas of Roma Surrectum to have gone untouched, and this could really add depth to it. A generous and superb offer, made all the more sweeter by no need for scripts!
