Help with RTW

Hey, i've recently installed Rome total war and when i try to play (vanilla version 1.0 no patches or anything) i get a flickery screen whenever i try to play. I've tried everything, reinstalling the whole game, installing patches, keeping it at version 1.0, installing directx, re-installing catalyst drivers and yet nothing worked. Before i reformatted i used to play spqr perfectly with the same settings/resolutions etc. yet now i have this problem.

Here is a screenshot of what happens during the game. It happens at the loading screen and when i am actually ingame. Also, it's as if i had more screens because at the bottom (you can see in the screenshot) there are the "T'' from Activison showing. This also happens during the game.

MY SYSTEM SPECS:
Windows XP Professional
1 GB of Ram
Intel Xeon processor @ 2.2ghz
ATI Radeon 9600

Any help would be appreciated.

did you try any other game?

and maybe try uninstaling manualy (deletinf all files and folders and going into the registry)

Yes I've tried everything. Deleting registry + files. No help.

thats easy you have a bad video card, looks like the VC memory went bad. You'll get weird characters like that. I know years ago when people were using 16 colot video cards it would happen alot, VC's back then didnt just die they acted up, now they usually Die. BUt in you case Bad VC ram. Get a 7800GS or 7800gt depending on what slot you have.

I suggest staying away from ATI, I have seen way too many issues with them.

7800gs and gt.. are they nvidia? coz i have ati and i want to change them and update my ram to 1 gig at least or better if 2 gig coz of game specs demands of other games

Alright, but it only happens with RTW. I play cs 1.6 fine, it's only RTW. I will look into buying a new card though.
