Thread: BOTET Custom Battle unit rebalance.

Default BOTET Custom Battle unit rebalance.

    Hi All,

I first started this mod a few years ago and gradually edited it to make my custom battles more balanced. There's too many changes to list fully but here's a few significant ones:

-The anti-spam premium has been overhauled; making wizards, Black Orcs, Giants and other elite units more expensive to spam with. To keep them competitive (and more fluffy), these units have also been made more powerful indivdually.

-Skirmish mode removed (designed to prevent the AI from forcing you into a boring game of 'chase the archer'.)

-Tomb Kings are more expensive across the board, however they're also very strong with increased armour on construct-type units. Also, Ushabti Great Bows have had their range increased as they're basically walking artillery.

-Dark Elf repeating crossbows have been nerfed (previously there was almost no point of using any unit other than Darkshards as they'd kill everything).

-Some of the wizard units have recieved more 'ammo'.

-Vampire elite infantry have been overhauled, with Waiths being expensive shock infantry/anti-armour units.

-Tomb King Scarabs are now a cheap 'tar pit' unit, similar to zombies.

-Wood Elf Eternal Guardians recieve an attack bonus if they don't have shields, representing them using two hands.

Add the text file to your Mods>BOTET>Data folder. I'd recommend creating a backup of the original file first so that you can revert any changes if desired.

    Suggested battle mode
The mod was designed with this in mind, but you can always just do your own thing if you wish to.
Depending on the 'rank' of the battle, you are limited with how many elite units you're allowed to take. Gameplay-wise this is designed to make you think more about which premium units to take, as well as helping to prevent 'cheesing' the anti-spam system by limiting all elite units rather than just individual units.

For the purpose of this game mode, 'elite' units are any units which aren't your standard 'line infantry' swordsman, spearman, archer etc. For example with the Empire the Pikeman is a Troop unit whereas Greatswords are Elite. Sometimes the lines can be blurred since Warriors of Albion and Huntsmen are Elite yet they have a similar cost to Troops.
    All artillery is Elite.
Cavalry is typically Elite but it can be Troops if it's under 1400 Gold.

Before selecting your units, decide if this battle is Rank 1, 2, 3 or 4.

    (for each army)
    Rank 1:
1 Elite unit, 5 units in total.

    Rank 2:
2 Elite units, 10 units in total.

    Rank 3:
5 Elite units, 15 units in total.

    Rank 4:
8 Elite units, 20 units in total.

If the battle is especially large you could increase the number of Elite units in a Rank 4 battle to something like 10 or 12.

In in a story campaign (using custom battles on an out-of-game map) a Rank 4 army could attack a Rank 3 army. If this happens then the Rank 3 army can have extra resources in what's called 'Rank 3+' which means that it can have 20 units but still only 5 Elites. Likewise Rank 1+ is 10 units with 1 Elite.
