    Default Hm... Buy Vista yet?

I mean... Will Vista run most of the games I play now? I heard it won't support RTW for example. But will it support Star Trek - Legacy (which is out, as I was told today, yippieh!)?

Or games like UT 2004 etc.? Or won't it support any games unless they were specially made for Vista?

    Hey
Any game made for windows xp will run on vista the only difference is that vista will feature DX10, obviously games made for windows 98 won't run =P though.

Ah, good news if that's true! For me, I mean, who didn't know that...

Anyway, after "making a K.K" ("first acting than thinking"), I found a great list of hardware and software supported by Vista:

    http://forumz.tomshardware.com/softw...ict232602.html

But my games are not on that list - maybe they haven't been tested yet?

Anyway, is there confirmation that all XP games will run on Vista? I mean, I heard different things before...

I took part in the vista beta test & must say that I did experience several compatability issues. Obviously I would expect some of these things to have been resolved by now but I would strongly advise not getting vista until software manufacturers have had time to update their products. I eventually pulled out of the beta because the incompatability with my programs annoyed me so much, I can't remember whether or not games were affected as it was some time ago.

there's supposed to be a fair amount of backward compatibility issues with vista, often relating to various copy protection methods used, and support for them.

generally though, i'd wait uintil 2008 to get vista, just to let them iron out all the bugs and problems that are inevitably going to be part of the package.

Yeah, sadly that seems to be true... I read a few reviews, most show it in a not-so-shiny light, but some say it's not that bad. I dunno, I really looked forward to it when I read the previews.

My thoughts are the same as ever: Never buy first generation Hardware or Operating System Software. Normally they can be riddled with bugs that simply could not be picked up until mass launch, so I'm going to bide my time...and wait till I can afford a better system for Vista/DX 10. Which wont be for another 3 years I'm thinking :/

Does my system work well with XP? Yes! Good, I shall save the money and squander it on other things

I heard that only Window's certified programs will run on Vista, is this true?

no. You'll get an annoying pop up every time you try to run one, though. However, that "security feature" can be turned off. (it is over here )

thing im most concerned about. is this DRM rubbish.
Giving micro$oft the ability to delete content on your computer
or downgrade quality on video or audio if you don't have the connectors they want you to have.
Or track every sodding thing you do on the computer..

Vista is making me seriously consider Linux, or even A mac.

So no, i wouldn't buy vista, not now, not ever.
Certainly not for the obscene pricing they have for it here in the UK
In the US you pay $180 for home basic.
In the UK, you pay $353 for home Basic.
