Thread: LOTR: The Rings of Power (TV Series)

Illuvatar, help us. No modder in his right mind, will incorporate those images to the mod, and its submods, particularly Leo's Alternative Patch (TATW 4.0), DaC, Silmarillion: Total War, or DCI: Last Alliance. This is Melkor-levels of awful.

$1,000,000,000.00; and this is what we got, as subpar as snaga units.

An example of this is that the Numenorean army's greaves were made of gambeson, instead of plate or leather.

Is this really Numenorean line infantry or elite infantry? More like militia, like Arnor/Gondor Militia.

Does anyone think the male Elves look more like Romans than Elves? I don't know if it's the hair, the clothes or the facial features, but they look off and not at all Elven.

I don't really see the similarities with Romans. To me they look very british (with terrible hairstyles).

There was a whole scene released on twitter. I always get the same feeling when I see any material from this series. It looks entirely made up with just tolkien names thrown in like sauron, orc etc...

The hobbit movies are terrible adaptations of the book but I don't think Rings of Power can even be called an adaptation.

It may be that better armours come in the future seasons. According to them numenoreans have never been to war before.

I wonder why that guy has to wear an almost worn out and rotting shirt. Ancient people cared for their clothes as much as we do today. I would think a whole lot more, even.

I find that baloney, since they were taught by the Noldor and Aule's Maiar on how to forge armor, and Eonwe taught them advanced fighting techniques, and most of the Numenoreans (at least the first settlers), were war veterans from the War of Wrath. At least the armor and weapons must reflect their civilization, not militia-tier crap.

The spears.....dear Eru, they are similar to vanilla Third Age, and it says Middle-men rather than Numenoreans. Someone inform KK and DisgruntledGoat about this.

He's adrift in the sea with galadriel. Doesn't really explain how it got so tattered, unless they somehow spent months or years at sea.

Eyes are brown, while the entire House of Elros, Aragorn included, have grey eyes.
Also, I spot horse iconography. Only Eldacar can have that iconography, since he's half-Northman.

This is what I call nostalgia bait. When did they got the rights from Warner Brothers for the Narsil design?

    New trailer has been released!

    Elrond promo video:

An article about Durin IV and Disa: https://www.looper.com/971421/owain-...ive-interview/
Bear McCreary talks about composing the soundtrack: https://variety.com/2022/artisans/ne...ck-1235345372/

Also, you can find the soundtrack from your favoured streaming platform. My first impression from the soundtrack is that I think it'd mostly work good for a Disney production. I don't find it bad but I think it could have more depth.

Disney and no depth? You got any musical hearing? (no offense man) The soundtrack is absolutely amazing and epic... the best thing they released so far for sure... Dwarven and Numenor themes probably sounds the best, but its all very good... the only weak link seems to be the main theme by Shore (surprisingly), not very "introish"... maybe they rather should have let Bear do the whole thing...

Anyway the first early reviews from the screenings are up, and its all overwhelmingly positive! https://www.theonering.net/torwp/202...embargo-lifts/

That's for the critics *approved* by Amazon. Compare that to the organic audience and organic Tolkien fans.

Trailer looks lackluster, especially the Galadriel scenes. An in-depth criticism by Ngugi is desperately needed.
