    Default Gunpowder Nerf?

So, After getting into a prolonged war with Egypt, I still have plenty of money- but not nearly as much as before (I burned 200k+), so my money issues are answered- just know you make a lot of money if all you have are cities and not castles... but to the point...

I think Lusted has nerfed gunpowder too much. The arbiesquers have pretty much the same stats as peasant crossbowman. That completely defeats the purpose of gunpowder. I understand that nerfing gunpowder helps equalize the endgame, but it's really frustrating to wait 200 turns to finally get gunpowder units and them have them suck. How much nerfing was done and is there any consideration to "un-nerfing" them a little? Just curious.

Is the OP really that signifigant?

I'm playing as the Turks atm and as far as I know one of their strong points is the use of gunpowder.

I would think that part of the challenge would be to acquire the technology fastest so that you could use it against your enemies.

Anyway, I hope it isn't really a dramatic nerf because that just doesn't make sense. Why would you spend all those turns working towards something that is less effective than technology before it?

Well remember it is not so difficult to modify the attack stats yourself more to your taste. However, I think it was done to more historically represent the lethality of gunpowder units (they just were not so lethal) I just don't know if we have comparable statistics on the lethality of arrows / bolt ... I suspect they were not that much higher (but could very well be wrong). Also remember that gunpowder units have special abilities that scare enemy troops (I payed several custom battles in vanilla where just 4 musket units held off 20 aztec units by fear alone and just proceeded to pound them from a few hundred feet into oblivion) this can be a very usefull and I am sure LTC did not remove this ability. But, I do agree that there has to be a motive to change to gunpowder ... I think the unit should be VERY CHEAP in this way we motivate the computer to produce them in good quanities and we will actually see the late technological development.

You haven't actually tried them in custom battle have you? Because if you had you would know i've not nerfed them too much.

Oh, and unit stats are not very good indicators of a units performance, you are best of trying them in a battle to see how they perform.

Tried custom battles and I bow to your infinite wisdom. Gunpowder does still trump arrows. Guess I was just getting upset at Egypt (I hate those guys) and all their horse archers pounding my gunpowder units into oblivion.

And since I haven't said it specifically yet, let me add that despite my constant questioning and requests, etc... I am quite impressed with your mod (best out thus far IMO) and am glad to have access to your hard work.
